The Midnight Ogre: How the people of Wano saw him that night, he killed his own unit and almost wiped out a whole bunch of officers. They saw him as a demon. The moon of the midnight lit up his demonic “face.”
The Pale Emperor: A persona or ego that the sword, Bousou has told Yoshitaka that he is “a glorious pale emperor” who does not need to feel guilt. The Bousou says that it is going to do the right thing to start a righteous and justified kingdom that Yoshitaka will rule. Yoshitaka wears kabuki makeup to hide from the spirits that he has killed.
Some may say he is some crazy vigilante siding more with the people of Wano. However, he has a code no one understands. With this in mind, the family moved out of Wano to “protect” its people.

The Yoshitaka family wanted their son to become a high-end general/samurai. The family is a yakuza family with ties to the underworld. However, at a young age, he would have dreams about the sword. Later in his life, he became a high-ranking officer who witnessed a considerable incident or massacre; he gained PTSD. This PTSD made him susceptible to the sword more. He gave in and stole the sword. The sword gives him schizophrenia.
He has pride over his family however that does not mean he agrees with all of their actions. In some form, he has killed his cousins, and family members who have gone against his “code”.

The user has observation haki, but the issue is that the visions are very much not accurate. Some visions are telling him to do things, where there are terrifying visions he has. That is a part of the sword’s manipulation. The sword feeds off of the pain and bloodshed- so making more hallucinations to make the son kill is its end game.
