Random encounter[]
Finally recovered from her fight with Sabat Lilith, Artemis D. Samantha walked on air towards the Science Department, wanting to check on the new weapons she had requested. She flew through the air with her arms crossed and her ears folded back. “I’ll need to improve my Haki further so I can become a higher-ranking figure. Next time I’m in a situation like that, I want to be able to protect people more effectively. There were so many I couldn’t save,” she lamented as she landed on a Marine ship she saw below to rest. “Commander Artemis, gracing you with my presence.”
The marines startled by the sudden appearance, even directing the weapons at her, believing to be a sneak attack of the enemy, only for their eyes widened, noticing the presence, before salutation at her.
“Commodore Artemis! Welco-!” Before the marine could finish their sentence, the heavy footsteps were heard, before the atmosphere felt like going a few degrees down.
“What are you doing here, Artemis?” The voice of the red cross eyed person, with her gray and white hair interrupted the soldiers, making them gulp and step away, as Rear Admiral, Zelda passed through them staring right at the half mink, her face having a mixture of annoyance and slight disgust, hidden under her usual stoic expression.
Stretching her legs, she used a spring on her arm to pull herself to the edge of the boat and settled down, taking off her shoes to rest her feet. "I'm headed to Alice in the Second Department to grab a weapon. Didn't want to waste a ship, so I started walking. What are you doing out here? On patrol or something?" Her casual and carefree nature was a stark contrast to Zelda, who was known for bringing hope rather than fear. At least she tried to maintain that spirit.
Even though she still had her somehow hateful expression on her face, the second the name “Alice” dropped, the body of Zelda slightly shivered in fear, while a drop of sweat appeared on her forehead. Taking a moment to calm her nerves down, she let out a sigh. “We actually were heading towards there to transport a few goods and requested items for her. Beside that, that's still not answer my question, why you just appeared unauthorized and more importantly without a care to notice on my ship. For all we know we could accidently shot you.”
“If I got shot by one of these scrubs, I’d shoot myself,” she said, throwing her shoes down. “And I did announce myself! I shouted that I was landing before I landed—clearly, that’s an announcement, meant for cross-eyed folks,” she added mockingly. “Anyway, thanks for the ride,” she said, crossing her legs.
While the soldiers grumbled or were slightly offended called “scrubs”, it paled in comparison to the cold anger radiating from the rear admiral, as she came closer standing in front of the commodore.
“Watch your tongue, commodore. Especially at your appearance no one would blame someone for confusing you as a dirty sinner.”
Zelda said, her arms crossed over her chest, her eyes just glaring at Samantha.
Sam stood, feeling a subconscious irritation or perhaps a hidden button that Zelda had pressed without her knowing. She looked up at the woman, her starry eyes meeting Zelda's crossed gaze. “Funny you say that, 'cause you look like my next sin. I wouldn’t eat you even if I was part of the Rakshasa Tribe, so it’s not gluttony. There’s nothing you want that I can’t get easily, so it’s not envy. Maybe it’s pride because I’m better than you,” she said, playfully booping Zelda’s nose.
Despite the agitation boiling within her—possibly from her recent fight with Lilith—Zelda's presence only seemed to stoke that fire. “You are cute, so maybe it’s lust,” Sam added, blowing a kiss.
After actions the pupils of the rear admiral shrunk so much that it was hard to even see if they were crossed or just normal. Beside the ranking, the disrespect came from two things, one of it done by the half mink. After all one she blew the kiss the feeling of strong nad cold grip under her arm, before lifted up by two metallic gloves, hovering in the sky, with two more holding her legs.
“Listen. The only reason I not drown you or put you on a cross is because you are a marine. Any other way and this would be your last day!” Threatening the half mink she turned around, yet all the way on the rent, a tiny blush appeared on the face of the rear admiral, only for it to turn around with the back of the head facing the commodore.
“We will reach the island, where Alice is in 30 minutes. Until then stay there and enjoy the trip.”
Once Sam was picked up, she smirked at Zelda with a devilish smile. “Come now, don’t tell me I got under that iron cold skin. Here I thought you upper ranks were the calm, collected ones, like that hell woman,” she said, watching as Zelda walked off. She then turned to another Marine. “I think she likes me more than you scrubs,” she added before trying to spring her arms free from the metal gloves. “Release me!” she complained.
“Calm and collected, my ass!” Zelda screamed out, before turning around her face in real disbelief and still have red in her face, “I met the upper ranks and trust me there are anything like that, like my superior!”
She said, before her face was replaced by a rare shit eating grin.
“Also nah. I think staying there suits you. Enjoy the trip, commodore.”
Zelda finished, before the trip continued, coming closer and closer to the island.
Hell Knight[]
Having done nothing but shout "Release me!" for the past 30 minutes straight without rest, she declared, "I see our destination! Release me!" She demanded fiercely, "I won't be your sacrifice, do you hear me? The sea goddess won't have my blood today!"
She shouted, recalling her childhood when she had said those words before, bouncing up and down like a child. As she continued, she felt herself getting higher and higher, her springy arms and legs becoming slender enough for her to escape. "Freedom! Alice, I've come to trade my bag of chips for my weapons!" she shouted with enough force to shake the ship.
Before she could escape another pair of armored gloves appeared around her, before grabbing her and forcing her back to the ground.
“Oh no commodore. Because we were so kind, take you there, you will help us to carry the goods, Alice requested.”
Sam pouted. “Whatever you say, Cross Eyes,” she said, opening her hands to receive the supplies. “Fine, I’ll help, but only if you pay me. I charge 20,000 below per box,” she added with a smug smile, looking at Zelda. “What did Alice order anyway? A few tools and some paper to write down notes?”
Without saying a word, a shadow was above Sam, before two metallic arms dropped down a huge crate on the commodore's back, which felt like it was at least 100 times heavier than the box should possibly be.
“You get 20.000 whip strikes if you continue to show disrespect, bunny. So move your ass, these crates do not get carried themself.” Turning around, the metallic footsteps were heard, as multiple knights carried crate after crate from the ship off into the shores.
“Also I am not sure exactly, but they are definitely a variety of different metals she ordered. Very heavy, so I am glad you volunteered to carry all the crates, so my soldiers do not need to carry them. How kind of you.”
“I didn't think you'd be into that kind of thing, but I guess everyone has their hobbies,” she said before grabbing two large boxes and treating them like dumbbells. “Yay! These are a bit heavy, though. I understand if your soldiers are slacking on their exercise,” she added, carrying what she could off the ship.
“Huh? I am not into that stuff, especially even if I would I would not do it against some likes of you.” Zelda committed with an eye roll ,as more and more knights carried the crates, as both stepped off the ship into the shores.
“Also don’t blame me for their slacking. I prefer working alone and these soldiers just got forced temporarily on my throat. So I just get used to it, till I can dumb them down again. After all I have my own army of cannon fodder, but at least they are not lifes that just die for nothing.”
Zelda commented, before raising an eyebrow, side-eying Sam with light curiosity.
“Yet why did you exactly request it from the demon of a scientist?”
Sam chuckled as she jumped back on the ship. “Don't be like that! I'm just making small talk. You know we're marines, and we could die at any moment. While some of us have friends, others die without anyone knowing them. The goddess of the sea greets us all in her crimson dress,” she said, trailing off somewhat before taking down another set of boxes. “I had her change a weapon I own. I got it from my mother, and I want any trace of her removed from it.”
If Sam would look at Zelda, the moment she finished the sentence, the moment she mentioned friends and death, her vision turned darker and for a moment sadder and it was followed by the mentioning of the word “mother” with even her knights, who normally walked like robots, they actually stumbled a bit.
“Ah…I see. You are right, commodore….why do you want any trace of her removed?”
Zelda asked as the knights continued their work, creating crate after crate, with Zelda trying to sound again lie usual, but in her voice was definitely a bit of uneasiness and curiosity and sadness hidden, like she tried her hardest to bury it back deep inside her with her cold demeanor.
“You ever heard of the Crimson Claw? My mother was Crimson Demeter, the founder of that group. She gave me four things in life; you know what they were? She gave me access to the Crimson Rose, my seastone knuckle gloves, assassin skills, and… life, at least what passed for one when I was with her.” She said the last part with a hint of regret. “So I thought if I couldn't get rid of any of these things, I might as well make them mine. Don’t tell either of those hell sisters I said this, but I’m grateful to them both. Kirimoto Persephone was the second person to show me kindness, and Kirimoto Aphrodite was willing to take me in to SPEAR despite me not proving myself too well.”
She said this while carrying boxes down to the docks before jumping back on the ship. “My bad, I made the tone all gloomy and shit. Tell you what, when we get the chance, I'll make you a carrot cake. How's that sound?”
Coming to a halt, the knights all but stopped, as the expression of Zelda changed. It was not clear what she was thinking, as it was a twist between sympathy and thinking if she should strike her down in that moment, as all her head screamed, was “Sinner!” Yet soon she let out a sigh, with the knights continuing to walk.
“If Vice Admiral Persephone sees something in you, you might definitely be cured from all possible stains of a sinner. You should be more careful about sharing that, as other officers and high ranking members would see it as an excuse to imprison you. Especially seeing that you with your features and the past of Crimson Claw would be an easy target and mostly justifying excuses to spike your head on a pole."
Zelda explained in a matter of fact tone, yet there was a tiny subtitle of concern or warning in her tone, only to roll her eyes at the second half of the comment from the half mink.
“You don’t need to make a carrot cake as not everyone shares the same food preference as you, yet it makes me wonder. Seeing Madam Persephone find you, explains why you join the marines, yet why you stay and what is your goal now?”
Even though the tone was even, with the last crate moved out of the ship, the fact that the marine still stayed and not walked away, showed she was interested to hear Sam out.
Sam was quiet for a short while. “I'm gonna be the strongest, not just because I want to be, but because I want to represent something. Did you know that most people fear marines? I want to change that. I want the people we protect to see us and feel hope,” she said before taking the last of the boxes down. “That's the last of it. Let's get going.”
Humming a bit she looked as all the crates were put where they belonged, before starting to walk in a direction, showing Sam she should follow her, probably leading her to Alice.
“That’s a huge goal, especially seeing what you represent and how you look, leading to a lot of negative, yet justified emotions to a lot of people, especially after the war.” Zelda explained, before giving a slight scoff, “Besides for me it does not matter for me if people like, hate or fear me, as long as I do my job. A hero and a follower of god should not ask for gratitude for their good actions, but should do it because the actions are good. Also with all respect I doubt you would ever be the strongest, seeing what kind of monsters we have right now, who represent us.”
Saying it with all honesty, she looked ahead, as her body slightly shivered, coming closer and closer to this demon.
“I even doubt you would even surpass me.”
Sam shrugged. “It’s an uphill battle, but hey, who would have thought the daughter of an assassin’s organization would climb the ranks to be a Commodore? But here I am; anything is possible with the right amount of work. You just gotta believe in yourself.” She said, her ears perked up as she started walking ahead. “Besides, like I said before, my sin for you isn’t envy, because I know I can beat you,” she added with an evil smile. “Just because I haven't reached that rank yet doesn’t mean I’m not stronger than you; it just means I haven't been recognized yet.”
“Hmmm? Believe what you want? It does not matter if you do not have the sin of envy towards me, as in the end it does not change reality, only what you believe. Besides, strength led to recognition, otherwise we would have people as strong as admirals sitting on the captain position. Sounds stupid, right?”
Commenting on it, she indirectly told the bunny girl. that all she said was just nonsense and there was no way she would even hope to defeat her. However her stoic, yet slightly amused expression turned into a bit sour and fearful, as they came closer and closer to a building, which knew it was coming closer to the demon.
“W-we are here.”
She tried to say neutrally, but could ont hide the slight hiccup in her voice.
Sam shrugged. “Either we will have strong leaders or smart leaders—no in-between, honestly,” she said before her ears perked up at the change in demeanor. Upon seeing they had arrived at the building, she stood behind Zelda and gently pushed her forward. “Combine, and we’ve got places to be. You freezing up isn't gonna help with that,” she said with a confident smile.
Glaring at Sam for a short moment, it was quickly replaced by slight panic, as she tried to step aside.
“W-well. I think your business is a bit more important than mine right now. H-how about you deal with it first, b-before it's my turn. It's after all just business talk.”
Zelda explained with a bit of nervousness, as she visibly tried to step aside, to give Sam the room to pass her and enter the building first.
Sams held onto Zelda's arm. “Well, if you say so.” She ran, her arm stretched out like a spring that trailed back to Zelda's arm and rapidly compressed to pull her in with her. “Be a shame to waste time!” Sam shouted in her normal cheerful voice. “I'll be here to support you,” she whispered.
Her eyes widening in horror, as her arm got snatched in the spring, before she started to get pulled inside the building.
“N-No! Let me go commodore!” she screamed out trying to sound intimidating, but her voice was unusually 10 octaves higher than usual. Beside the words of mockery or encouragement, it did not stop the rear admiral to claw on the door, leaving visible and deep scratches on the door at how hard she tried to dig her finger into the door, before she was finally snapped inside the building.
Faith in Science[]
On the other end of the shallow door of sealing was a sight far different from the one on the outside world. Beginning with darkness, the corridor the Rear admiral and commodore duo would find themselves in at the start barely had any form of lighting, indicating any life to be found existing within such an environment. Though it wasn’t all nothingness.
Across the other end of the corridor illuminated a faint, glow. Nothing too sharp but far from dim enough to ignore. It was the only form of presence that seemed to exist within this lifeless void and the only indication that there was at least something living here besides them. Though they would not be given much of a choice. Matter of seconds, the door they came through sealed shut with a loud clank. Sounds of locking gears and mechanisms came to life, signaling the obvious of there being no turning back.
Going down its road, the light showed more vibrantly closer they came to it. What was once darkness slowly faded away to this new luminary stage dragging them out of one auspicious atmosphere…only to pull them into another.
Behind that door was a sight that only could be described straight out of a storybook. At the start, it was nothing much to write off on. Glancing one would find the general thing you’d see in a normal laboratory. Monitors, test tubes, beakers, microscopes, animals, cages, enclosures and so much more you’d regularly see anywhere, but if one were to look closer, they’d find the abnormal. In front of the two layed rows of ginormous pods the size of them. Gazing in closer through its hazy liquids they’d find…a human. Not just they’d see another with creatures far beyond nature. Same with the next and the next and the next. Either they saw a human, creature, or even something unexplained each of these tubs contained something within them. All of them warried in size, but their purpose didn't stray from that of life. However, one thing was strange, if they looked closer to the human ones, they seemed to closely resemble…
“Master Alice, I have your daily report ready.”
Echoes erupted behind them, signaling another. An open door showed a person the Marines were all but familiar with. Sitting in an office chair, fingers tapping away at a monitor at speeds unseen and untrackable, and eyes darting across a monitor at laser movements. There was no mistaking that face and posture. The person behind that typing was no other than Alice.
Besides the woman of science was another figure. Dressed in slightly ornate clothes, with eyes matching the color to which all life flowed within the body was one of Alice’s assistants, Caroline.
Collecting the notes made from them, Alice’s concentration didn’t much break away from the screen. No. Instead, she shared it between the two typing away at the monitor and scanning between the documents handed off in her possession.
“So far things are running smoothly over the company statistics. Profits from the life raft are still stable, with reviews coming through from all corners, showing a hundred percent efficiency rating of saving lives. Manufacturing of Sea Kitchen goods is proceeding on schedule, with the new batch of shipment foods already on its way to reach the blues by the end of the day. Along with that, the next exhibition of the Deep Oceans, fashion show is underway. All models and staff are being taken care of as instructed. Vivienne has ensured that all materials and designers are at their best. In the end, it seems as though Stocks good percentage and rising, my lady.” Caroline explained in full rapport with their master.
“Understood.” Was all that I gave in return for the detailed report before setting the documents down. “Also could you two step forward? Or would you rather watch?” Alice questioned, still keeping her eyes out on the monitor, whilst Caroline raised an eyebrow in confusion at her master's question.
Sam came running in. “HEY HEY THERE, AL! HOW ARE THE WIFE AND KIDS?” she shouted as she came to a stop before looking around the lab. “Wow, all this stuff is science, huh? But do you make all kinds of discoveries in here? Have you figured out why Zelda's such a stick in the mud yet?”
“Watch your tongue, commodore!”
Zelda barked out, trying to show her authority…if not for the fact her voice was way too high pitched and the fact said Rear Admiral was surrounded by four knights from all angels, with heavy shields, while Zelda made her best attempt, to make herself as small as possible, so that the demon not even saw an ounce of her body. However the fact even the knight vibrated showed how much the rear admiral must shiver for even moving this heavy constructs of metal.
“C-c-commodore….eh i mean Alice! I g-g-got your r-r-requested i-items! I e-even h-have the Check up r-r-report!”
Zelda said, sounding more like a scared subordinate towards the scientist as another knight armor materialized out of nowhere, while a shaky hand poked out from the protection of the knight formation, handling the knight the report, who took it and walked towards Caroline with heavy footsteps, before handing her the report.
Kindly taking the report handed to her, Caroline gave the armored figure a nod before beginning the process of analyzing what was written on it.
Still typing away at her keyboard with, the accelerated movements of a machine Alice went on to complete whatever remained of its continents before hitting what seemed to be the save option on it. Swerving her chair around she turned to face the newly brought-in guest into her domain then stood to wave. “Hello there, Sam. The kids are all developing well and into a good state in life thanks for asking.” Responding to the greeting casually Alice seemed to go along with the playful gest of a question, though her tone and way of answering made it hard to grasp whether or not it was truly a go-along or an actual response to the game question. “Also yes this is one of my personal labs made for the discovery and development of the future. For Zelda.”
Momentarily turning away from her bunny compatriot, Alice turned to face the heavily guarded Rear admiral. Approaching casually she made her way over to them, seemingly unperturbed by the armored unit that surrounded them away from her but inches away soon stopped to bow her head. “It’s my pleasure to have you here Zelda. Thank you for your assistance in transporting my item here for me, they held much importance, so I truly appreciated it.” Giving her gratitude, Alice spoke with deep respect towards her superior for the help.
Soon rising, she turned back to Sam with seeming curiosity. “Though for you Sam, what brings you here? Do you need more upgrades to your weapon or came to give a new custom order for a device you might need?”
Sam walked up to Alice with no fear in her eyes. “I just wanted to see how my gloves were coming along, and I heard you have toys that haven't been field-tested yet. I just love to play with new toys,” she said with a sinister smile.
Nodding her head, Alice understood. “Yes, the modifications and additional implementations for your weapons have reached their completion. Along with that, yes I do have a couple of devices I can offer you that may help on the field.” Shifting around Sam, Alice made her way over to another table in her lab.
Motioning to the table with her hands, upon lay resting the tool Sam had sought and her weapon of trade, no less deadly than their wielder. The gloves. Glistening with a brighter sheen, the blades sharper and glistening more vibrant. Old leather was stripped of long dying ones and became more lustrous with newer, stronger fabrics. At the back of the glove lay implanted a circler device which closely embedded held several small dials. Some were old, to which Sam had long ingratiated themselves, while others were new and unfamiliar but still held their function. There her weapon rested born again, and made a new. Stripped of all undesirable aspects but kept the fundamentals that the bunny girl cherished. An upgrade by all standards.
Along with their gloves were an assortment of other things. Chemicals, vehicles, other weapons, and…a backpack.
“What do you think? Do they live up to your specifications?”
Sam went to put on the gloves and started to scratch her claws together, smiling as she looked at them. She began punching rapidly in the air to see how they felt before igniting them. “Do you think you can do something to make the fire and electricity more effective?” she asked, shaking her hand and extinguishing the flames. “What are these other things you have for me to play with?” she said, grabbing a black and red seed, throwing it in her mouth, and crunching away on her snack. “I'll call you Jarngreipr it a new era needs new weapons.”
Nodding her head, she carefully pointed a finger towards the glove. “To answer your question. I read up and received some of your documentation and field reports, to help aid in the formulation of modifications to add to your weapon for you beforehand. Outside of the base seastone and reject dial function I also added a few extra dials onto it. I heard about your unique fighting style which you were taught by the Infernal Lion, so I surmised the addition of Breath Dial and Jet Dial would suit. Your style fundamentally utilizes the need to exert friction to ignite your flames, but in doing so you need fuel to keep it alive. The Breath Dial holds a variety of aromas and gases of varying quantities. Some are quite volatile while others are stable under certain conditions. With that in mind, you could use it in the function as either fuel to empower your flames further to unleash greater intensities of fire through the consumption of gases, add more explosion into your combat, or give your flames differing effects depending on the chemical gas that’s being released. Whilst Jet serves the same purpose it utterly more to do with increasing the punching power behind your attacks at close quarters. Along those two I did add another dial that adds to the nature of destruction.” Going into detailed reason on her approach towards the augmentation, Alice made sure to make it known this addition was made geared in conjunction with adding Sam and her way of combat above all else.
Moving on from there she pointed towards another dial upon the glove. “For the effectiveness of electricity, I thought it apt to add onto it a Thunder Dial. Seeing your unique lineage, being that of a mink, I felt it best suited in conjunction with your electro. Through storing your electro and that of any electrical force around you, then you’d be able to combine all of those elements together into unleashing greater shocking bursts rather than having to continuously tap into your own reserves mid-fight and drain your stamina each time.”
Finish her explanations smoothly she then moved over to the table ahead and all that layed bare in front of them. “To start, seeing you a fellow fruit user like Zelda and I, felt it best to offer this to you early.” She pointed to a device with multiple accessories placed close by. “ This is Life Raft. To simplify its functions, it basically serves as a way to stop use who are forsaken by the sea to stay out of its clutches by enasing use in a bubble. If you need it?” Alice offered to the rabbit. Aside from the basic design of a watch, it seemed to come in a variety of forms. Whether it be a bracelet, ankle, ring, or even a choker for the neck, the choices were left open for the user and their tastes of where they wanted to wear it and in which style.
Sam tapped her foot rapidly. “Okay, okay, so that's all well and good, but what about the real toy stuff that needs a field test to see if it's safe?” she said with a smile as she walked closer to Alice. “Can you put a compartment or some kind of setup so I can switch dials on the knuckles quickly?”
“Alright then. Also yes, there is already a mechanism installed for switching. Namely a finger-operated control mechanism. The ring finger is Breath Dial, the index finger is Thunder Dial, and the middle finger is Jet Dial. Simply just tap them against your thumb and immediately quick switch.” Ending her quick explanation of Sam's suggestion she moved back over to the table and picked up a vial before moving to hand it over to Sam. “I heard and read about your background, so felt this would be a fit for you. Its name is TERROR. Another simplification is that it’s a gas that induces a state of intense panic, forcing whoever is subjected to its effects to see their worst fears and nightmares.”
Sam picked up the vial. “I could put it in the breath dial and induce fear in someone with just a punch, so that will be interesting. What about for my good buddy Zelda? Got anything for her?” Sam said, throwing her spring arm out to reach back and try to grab Zelda and pull her close. “Don't want her to feel left out,” she said, making a pouty face.
As the spring arm came out with a lot of effort as slowly Zelda got dragged out of the knight formation, with her clinching for all dear life on the knight, as she slowly got pulled towards Samantha. Instead of being angry, fighting her off, scolding the commodore or even denying that they were buddies, she was just completely helpless, nearly crying looking at Alice, before turning towards Samantha to avoid the gaze of the demon.
“Ey! T-There is no need! I-i am really f-f.fine! J-just d-d-did my job t-to get dem-Alice m-materials!”
Zelda said in panic, her body sweating like crazy as she tried to drag herself back into the knight formation.
Nodding, Alice seemed to accept Zelda’s words of not needing anything new of note at the moment. “If you're alright, then let's move on.” Approaching the table once again, Alice came to reach for one of the vile layed out. Lurching over they handed it to Sam. “Other than TERROR that benefits your skills and background, I thought this would more benefit your physical repertoire. It’s called Nightshade. Simply put ingesting one of these will permit you to access the power that lies within your blood. For an hour you’d have access to the greatest asset a mink could ever own. Sulong.”
Sam stopped all movement and shivered at the mention of Sulong; her hair stood on end as she almost hid behind Zelda. “Sure, nightshade sounds like f-fun,” she said with a nervous chuckle. “Do you have anything else I could use? Not that I'm greedy, but you know, Sulong is so strong, it would be better as a last resort. And an hour of Sulong is a bit much—can I microdose for a shorter time?” she asked.
“Huh?!” Being surprised to not be only fully exposed towards Alice, but also by the fact that the half-mink hid behind her. But to think about the reasoning or possible way to tease her, she quickly was reminded again, who stood in front of her….the demon.
“Eppp! Stop hiding behind me, commodore!”
Zelda screamed as she grabbed Sam and shoved back into the font…only to hide herself behind Sam.
Observing Sam’s words and reaction to the drug offered to her, Alice’s eyes narrowed with a brow of confusion tinting over it. The request was lost on her. Certainly, she expected apprehension at the knowledge of such a thing existing. A drug if ingested could offer them the power that they seldom could ever use. It was unbelievable for sure but achieved in the end. To ask for a reducal of time, went outside of her parameters of expectation.
Placing a hand over her chin, Alice pondered. “Alright then.”
Not one to pry in others' business she understood the request and accepted it. Lurching her arm behind her back, soon came two new veils of pills. Handing them over they each were labelled with a time limit. Some a minute, others a few, and then there was the hour one. “These are microdoses. Though I must warn you. Despite them being miro of the same product, you still can only take one a day. Any more than that and you run greater risks in your life. Besides that just be careful as you will receive a great level of exhaustion once the effects wain so only if the situation is truly dire must these be taken.” Ending off her medical advising of the mink, Alice made sure to hammer in the importance of what Sam was taking and how it must be taken.
Soon enough, she moved back to the table. On it remained only two more objects of notice. A backpack and seeds.
Picking up the backpack, her image blinked out of sight of the two Marines, only for a lightweight to rest upon Sam’s back. Behind her stood Alice, strapping the object to them firmly before fading out again to stand in front of the two with a remote in hand. Pressing on it sounds of gears turned. Unfurrowing and unfolding, the backpack expanded before growing over the form of its wearer. Wires, gears, and metals shot out, engulfing her with them all in the blink of an eye. The process was no less than seamless inaction, and in less than a second Samantha now wore…a full suit of armor.
Sam had requested just in time to realize she was being grabbed by the suit and instinctively jumped to get away, only to realize the suit was now on top of her. “YOU COULD HAVE TOLD ME WHAT YOU WERE DOING!” she complained, before checking out the suit that now covered her body. “What is this anyway? It looks like it belongs in a comic book.”
Taking a step back from the springing bunny, Alice's eyes flashed with their usual calculative and examination gaze. “Duly noted. Apologies for my rudeness. I felt it best to show you rather than have to explain the greater complexities of what it is.” Taking a moment away from her almost apathetic personality, Alice took a bow of apology before handing the remote off to Sam.
“It’s a newly advanced armored mechanized suit. I took inspiration for it from one of my fellow teammates.” Shifting sights over to the figure hidden behind, sheets of metal, Alice didn’t have to speak much of who inspired her. “For the suit itself. It was custom-designed to work with those who move at a greater pace. The materials are made of durable but also lightweight to afford mobility and defense, and they are resistant to fire and electric attack. Alongside those, it has other functions that lend themselves to increasing your overall power and speed but I trust Caroline to give you a more summarised note of those.”
Hearing the call, her assistant stepped forward. Holding a notepad, Caroline handed it off to Sam giving her a less wordy and scientific explanation of what the suits can do, then after, she took a step back to allow Alice to continue.
“Though aside from all that, a name still eludes this certain invention, though felt to leave it up to you if you felt it to be towards your fancy.”
Spring Armor[]
Zelda did not expect everything leading to that. It was just simple transportation, getting the materials towards the demon, avoiding the demon as much as she could and getting off as fast as possible. Instead she had a cu-annoying bunny girl, ergo commodore Samantha as a blind passenger on her ship, forcing her to stay way longer with the demon and now? Now she was standing on a relatively empty area, after the commodore nearly bagged her to fight her in a spar. However…
“Commodore? You asked for this spare to test your skills or you just searched for an excuse to test the tools you got from the demon and could not wait any longer?”
“Sam started stretching.” ‘Both things can be true,’ she said with a smile as she started jumping in place. ‘Don't hold back on me now; I want to test out what I’ve got, plus I want to see what you can do!’ she said with a smile as she dug her claws into the ground. ‘Ready, set, go!’ she shouted, then, like a blur, she was in front of Zelda, a wicked smile on her face, her ears looking more like horns as she went to kick Zelda in the chest, hoping to get the jump on her.
With the rabbit-girl being in an instead in front of the rear admiral, the only thing she would see, before her attack, were the red eyes which slightly glow in an unfamiliar light, before the kick was about to hit the chest of the woman with a force knocking down beasts like nothing.
CLANG!
Yet it never came to that point, with the feeling of flesh meeting flesh, the only feeling was something hard and cold. After all it was too expected as inches between the kick and Zelda appeared a metal and heavy shield held by a construct of armor, forming a full metal knight. Hollow with nothing inside but air, it still held firmly the kick back, with the shield not even buckling.
“Fast, but you speed is not great enough, while you lack force, commodore.”
Zelda replied coldly, before with a force, the shield actually moved with the knight pushing the half mink away forcefully through multiple meters. Yet with her flying a shadow formed above her in an instant, as illuminated by the sun, shining through the sun was a second knight standing at that moment beside the flying Sam, a huge mace raised above its head, darkening the sun, before with force and speed it went down, aimed to smash the commodore to the ground.
Being sent flying by the shield, Sam transformed her arm into a spring and slammed her palm into the made Mace, letting the recoil absorb the force. She then jumped into the air to kick the knight in the chest, rocketing down to the ground. Rushing forward in a zigzag motion, she aimed for a high kick directed at Zelda's head. However, instead of a kick, her leg acted as a spring that lagged behind to sweep Zelda's feet. Sam planned to follow up with a spring-loaded, high-speed punch aimed at her chest. “Slug round!” she shouted.
Her eyes just staring in the direction, beside the speed it looked like they were strangely keeping up, still with the weird, red glow on them. Yet it still succeeded, as the rear admiral got swept off her feet, and land on her back with a punch inches away…
CLANG!
Only for a second time to appear a massive shield, protecting the flesh of the rear admiral, hovering and resisting the force of the half mink, staying in place, like it was held by an army, beside hovering in the air.
“Not a bad feint attack. Any less experienced in their senses would feel it. But you saw my reaction time was able to keep up with your speed. You need to learn and adapt.”
Zelda scolded Sam, like she was not lying underneath Sam, only a shield between them. Yet another shadow appeared, as Zelda double kicked her shield to slam it into Sam. Not to damage, but to distract as it was followed by a knight, holding a massive warhammer aiming to slam it into Sam's side.
Sam's eye turned red as she blacked out her claws to slash through the hammer's handle. “You know there are easier ways to pound me!” she said jokingly, a wicked smile growing on her face and her eyes glowing crimson. She then created a barrier around her hands to flick the haki at Zelda but only sent a gust of wind instead. “Trying new things—my bad.”
With the part of the warhammer about to fall off, before it could touch the ground it started to hover like it was held by something. The eyes of the rear admiral not left the one of the commodore, with the force of haki, even though just a gust of wind got intercepted by the same shield again, standing firmly in front of the force, neither buckling or even showing any sign of damage.
“No commodore. Not trying new things, trying the right things.”
Zelda scolded, as the knight rushed at the marine, only to explode into pieces of armor, swirling like a vortex to damage and distract the marine, before the giant piece of hammer followed, with speed rivaling a cannonball aimed right at her guts.
“Tell me, Sam. Did you ever played a board game or something in thst direction?”
Sam turned her mid section to a spring to lessen the damage from the hammer but was still sent flying into the ground any ways caing her to roll and slowly rise to her feet. “Mom didn't really allow games growing up, just training day and night.” She said doing and one armed push up before standing up straight. “What's that gotta do with it?” She uses electro on her hands feeding her Thunder dials.
“Sorry to hear that. I didn't have time either for that in my childhood….for different reasons.”
She muttered her eyes dozed off a bit, before quickly shaking her head.
“It was something I recently do, where my superior forced me to participate in this game, calling it “Team bonding”. But even though at first I found it annoying and wasted time I learnt wisdom in it. Roles that can be translated in our real life.”
Zelda explained as she clapped her hands, before a dozen knights appeared, all looking even more durable than the last two.
“I would be a summoner. You would be a barbarian. In rough estimation, we both have rough strength and weaknesses, we can learn from it. Now let's continue and see if you learn what the issue is.”
Zelda explained as she snapped her finger, before in abnormal speed two of the knights appeared left and right from Sam, like they used this technique, both holding a warhammer one swinging from top to bottom, while the other from bottom to top.
Sam's eyes glowed a crimson red as a wicked smile spread across her face. Her arms transformed into large springs, allowing her to catch the hammers effortlessly. "Okay, I'm going to go crazy then. You ready?" she exclaimed, her ears curving to resemble horns. "Do you think Alice can turn this suit from a backpack into a pair of ankle bracelets?"
With a light step, she seemingly stepped on air before disappearing and reappearing on the ground, sending a powerful Blade of wind from her feet. "Bunny Burrow: Air Strike!" she shouted, repeating the attack three more times and unleashing more wind blades.
"What’s Taner like? I’ve never met him!" she said, trying to make small talk while training.
With the blades of deadly wind coming down the gaze of the rear admiral did not show any concern at all, with her eyes glowing red, yet for some strange reason if someone would look at her it was totally different compared to what Sam did.
CLANG!
And even though the blades were deadly and could even cut through steel, the endless amount of shields materializing in front of them was too much, as even passing few of them they dissolved in the end mid air.
“Outside of missions he thinks only with his third leg and is very easy going. In a mission he is one of the most reliable people I met. In both cases he has no filter for his mouth. I owe him my life.”
Zelda admitted, before clapping her hands…only for dozens of iron gloves appeared around Sam, hovering in the air and formed fists.
“But you should focus more on what I am trying to say. And you made your first mistake as a barbarian. Playing a range game with a summoner. Iron Pummel!”
Zelda finished as the fists moved with incredible speed before charging to pummel the marine from all sides and even if the marine would avoid it she would notice the gloves would turn direction to charge at her again like target searching missiles.
