The Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Dapeng Jinchi Mingwang is a Mythical Zoan type Devil Fruit that grants the ability to transform into a hybrid and full form of an ancient avian deity at will.

Etymology[]

Appearance[]

Transformations[]

This fruit grants the user the ability to transform into a giant, golden avian creature bearing a resemblance to the legendary phoenix. As with all Zoans, the user is able to access a smaller Human-Beast Form, obtaining a form resembling that of a Garuda. In either form the user manifests gleaming golden metallic wings and feathers that despite their form are capable of immense bursts of speed, and possess extraordinary strength and size. The user also manifests golden feathers around their body possessing the same metallic form, granting them an incredibly potent defense against attacks, as an avian beak, and limbs with clawed hands and feet.

In the full avian form, the user's size increases massively dwarfing even the ancient giants in size with a wingspan that is capable of blocking the sun across a small town. Its gargantuan size however does little to impede its flight speed, as in this form the user actually possesses even greater speed than their Human-Beast Form.

In the Human-Beast Form, known simply as the Garuda Form, the users size increases though not nearly to the same extent, merely doubling the users current height. In this form they manifest the same gleaming golden wings, feathers across their back, shoulders, forearms, chest, and legs, though due to its metallic form more closely resembles eastern armor. His face takes on an avian form with the eyes becoming a blazing golden sun, mouth forming a beak surrounded by golden feathers. The user retains a rather muscular form, and the legs become digitigrade with golden claws.

There is a third form the user can take and that is simply by manifesting the Golden Wings which are unique to the Great Peng. With them the user is able to wield them as shields, spears and blades using the golden metallic feathers.

Strengths and Weaknesses[]

As a Mythical Zoan the transformations of this Devil Fruit provide the user with an enormous boost to their physical abilities, enhancing their strength, durability, toughness, speed, stamina and recovery to incredible levels, far beyond what is seen in most other Zoans. The user is granted heightened predatory instincts, granting the user enhanced battle insight, reflexes, and intuition. The full avian form boasts an immense size that when combined with its wingspan is comparable to small town. Even more frightening is that even in this form, despite its large size it possesses almost peerless speed, able to traverse vast distances with incredible ease.

However its golden metallic wings are perhaps the most astonishing and powerful aspect of this form, as they are extremely dense and powerful, possessed of extraordinary durability and defense. These wings and feathers are also very deadly weapons capable of both thrusting and slashing attacks that can cleave through mountains. Each flap of its wings can generate galeforce winds capable of smashing up homes, and tearing through most material without much effort.

However the Human-Beast Form is perhaps the most powerful form, in contrast to most other Zoans, and Mythical Zoans, an oddity that sets it apart. In this form the full breadth of the Golden Winged Great Peng's warrior prowess is on full display. This form demonstrates incredible battle acumen, and physical enhancements that despite its far smaller form is compressed into a far more battle capable form and is in fact physically stronger than the full avian form, though noticeably slower in speed.

As with other Mythical Zoans the unique power granted by this Devil Fruit is related to the name of the Great Peng as the Illumination of the Golden King allowing him create and generate light for offensive and defensive use. This power is similar to the light power granted by the Pika Pika no Mi. Though the user lacks the ability to turn their body into light, they are able to unleash devastating waves, blasts and beams of destructive light capable of obliterating most opponents. They can use light to construct barriers, blind and dazzle their foes, and unleash a bombardment of incredibly potent laser fire at will. This light can be manifested from anywhere from the user's body, and after being released can be shaped and formed however the user desires.

This Devil Fruit beyond its full size making them an easier target for attacks, and the danger presented to the environment has no other apparent weaknesses aside from the standard weaknesses of other Devil Fruit users.

Usage[]

Bayushi Minamoto[]

Although he has acquired this Devil Fruit and has trained with its abilities, he rarely if all at all utilizes his Avian or Garuda forms. He appears to value his prowess as a swordsman far more, and will usually relent against an opponent who has proven too skilled for his swordsmanship to defeat. However those bouts are typically of a selfish nature, ones whom he has deigned to fight for the sake of improving his swordsmanship, against those he has sworn to kill, now that is a different matter. Against those he deems too much of a threat, he will manifest his golden wings and being to utilize the mythical aspects of his Devil Fruit, namely its light manipulation.

In this form his physical abilities do not gain any increase, instead he wields his wings as additional weapons and defenses, wielding with expert ease as he discards his bokuto and instead wields a sword of pure light. Foes rarely force him beyond this stage as his increased battle options, and namely his ability to ability to manipulate light guarantee him certain victory. Yet there are foes even more powerful, or perhaps they too possess formidable Devil Fruits that push Minamoto even further, in which case he will unleash the full majesty of his avian form, its sheer size and ability making it ideal to instantly demoralize or destroy entire armies, settlements, or threats that come his way.

Finally should a foe not be defeated by his avian form, he will at last assume his Human-Beast Form the Garuda. In this state his combat abilities explosively increase, far beyond that of even his full avian form, and much to the surprise of any foe he dares face, as his strength is even greater than before.
