"Hekiki" Samuel[2] is a Marine Ensign[3] and Doctor[4] who trained under Vice Admiral Hobb's alongside the teachers of Kano Country like Master Yao.[5][6]
In the past, Samuel grew up in the South Blue, to a family of doctors and herbalists.[7] After his mother died of an illness Samuel enlisted in the Marines residing at Amsterdam Kingdom. There he would meet Hobbs and would be taken under his wing as his apprentice for the start of his career.[8] During Healing Feathers, Samuel heads to Kano Country to train under Admiral Zhuque Ehuang[9] for medical practices[10] and Master Yao for Hasshoken.[11]

Before his training with Hobbs Samuel was a short scrawny skinny kid who was weak. Thanks to the Vice Admiral Samuel's appearance underwent a huge change, becoming taller and more muscular growing into his large frame rather well, while also growing to be more handsome. He changed up his messy hair to go with a slicked-back approach with a single strand dangling on his face.

Samuel ate the Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Phoenix Devil Fruit grants the power to transform into a large phoenix shrouded in green flames and a human-phoenix hybrid at will thanks to his training seems to transition with ease without fatigue.
As with all Zoan, the ability user's transformation significantly bolsters all their physical abilities. As a bird Zoan, the user is also given the ability to fly at high speed. The phoenix form (both in part and full) comes with a set of sharp talons on the feet that can deliver slashing damage via kicks.
Most significantly, the user can create their "Flames of Regeneration" (再生の炎 Saisei no Honō?).
