"Falling Ash" Pompeii is the captain of the Aska Funk Pirates currently sailing the New World. After he escaped his life as a slave, he became a sort of "adrenaline junkie" and gained a desire to pull dangerous stunts and fights to experience his life on the edge and flex his newly acquired freedom.

This desire led him to fight Alban A. Helios in 1614, permanently scarring half of his face and sparking his desire to grow stronger, leading to him finding the Hai Hai no Mi. His true goal is to take down the world government because of his desire to crush the "final chains" that are tied to him so he can finally be truly "free."

His hatred for the World Government makes him attack Marine bases and islands, using his fruit to make it rain ash over them and cover them in ash, leading to his epithet "Falling Ash."

Personality

Pompeii is impulsive and has a habit of rushing things, and the thrill he gets from his own adrenaline makes him giddy and incredibly excited, as seen when he started laughing and getting giddy when he narrowly dodged an attack by the head of Cp9 Polta G. Specter or started smiling widly after he faced close calls with Aphrodite.

These attributes have made him lack fear and perhaps common sense; this was made especially clear when he challenged Specter and Aphrodite on a 2 vs. 1 duel.

History

Past

When he was a child, he was captured and sold to slavery by human traffickers because of his Kodama heritage. His life of slavery was tough, with no time for rest and suffering various tortures and injuries. Working so hard, he became a shell of his former self, even forgetting his own birth name and family.

1610

At the age of 19, while working on a vacation home for his owner, he uses the root of a tree to fashion a lockpick, which he uses to break free from his chains and steal a boat from the local village. While sailing away from the island, his ship was sunk by a patrolling marine vessel, officially marking his "death." After managing to survive, he washed ashore on a nearby island, where he yet again stole another smaller boat. Starting his journey to explore the world.

1614-18

After traveling for four years, he encountered Helios and snuck on his ship to start a fight to fulfill his desire for living on the edge. The battle was swift, with Pompeii losing to Helios' logia abilities, which burned and permanently scarred half his face. After the encounter, it sparked a desire to grow stronger, making him spend the next four years battling other pirates and getting stronger, allowing him to awaken his Haki and later leading to him finding the Hai Hai no Mi. After consuming it, he named himself Pompeii and founded the Aska Funk Pirates.

My Old Friend, Death

After hearing that Specter and Aphrodite were meeting on an island to discuss their past missions after their food arrived, Pompeii crashes through a window as a storm of his creation swirls outside. After summoning stars, he commences an attack on Aphrodite, which was cut short as Specter interfered with their brief duel after reforming due to Specter's attack. Pompeii uses an elemental clone to slice open the roof, making his two opponents split up, with Specter going after his clone and Aphrodite choosing to fight the real Pompeii.
