Pires Matilde Is a fierce mink that hails from the New World. Not even old enough to talk, she was taken away from her parents by poachers to be sold off for her fur. Being relocated from Zou, Matilde was raised as livestock, her fur turned short and prickly with frequent sheering. By the age of 17, Her captors, saw no use in keeping her. Matilde was forwarded to a gladiator academy in order to recuperate belli. She then trained under a representative in how to fight and shown how to use her biological weapon, electro. Once she was prepared, she would fight in the Colosseum for the next 5 years.
In that time she'd become an experienced fighter and a novelty to the arena as an exotic fighter. While outside of combat she'd learn how to repair and forge weapons as apart of training and as something to do when not fighting to lower costs on equipment. While in the colosseum she would obtain her name and the glory of the pit. But, more importantly she would meet Eris, and join her future endeavors after escaping the fighting pits.
She spent several years after that as a loyal crewmate who took part in several conflicts. As of now she runs the Boar Pit as the leader and host of the Island's largest blood sport venue. She is one of the surviving members of the Animal Kingdom after the War of Empires
Appearance[]
Matilde is an imposing figure at 332.23cm (10'9") tall. Reflecting on her time as a gladiator and livestock, she has scars. Some are subtle and surgical, others gained through combat. Her fur is a soft gray, with shades of black and green blended in. Her fur was short and soft after having time to recover from years of sheering. Her body shows years of strength and strife wrapped into one boar.
Her figure is bottom-heavy, with a lot of mass around her abdomen and legs. While she's soft and pudgy from shifting routine and lacking high activity, much of her body has kept its muscle mass. Her core is still strong despite losing abdominal muscle. A deceptive level of strength that shouldn't be understated. Her mane/hair is a soft black with a green accent that matches her eyes. Her tusks and teeth are clean from Matilde's dedication to keeping her face clean and well-groomed. Matilde's body reflects her past, but more importantly, it holds potential for the future.
Matilde's clothes harken back to her time as a gladiator. Wearing pieces of armor while also allowing enough of her fur to be exposed, she can easily wield her electro. Her clothes are minimal, having a barbaric and rugged style. Spike and fluff are favorites to incorporate into her armor. The armor includes sectioned forearm guards strapped to her with leather, a torn and battle-tested skirt attached to her leather belt, and a buckle displaying an intimidating design resting in the center. The front of the skirt is replaced with a long draping loin cloth.

Personality[]
“ | Performance above all, punishment for failure. That is the gladiator's code. | ” |
—Matilde. |
Raised in captivity and taken far before she could even remember Zou, Matilde's identity as a mink is twisted. Understanding her species, but without understanding her culture, she hadn't learned the importance of her fur. Moreover, she never developed the mindset that everyone is a mink. Instead, being raised under a very human-centric worldview, she was taught to see herself as an oddity. A mindset that follows her even today.
With her time as a gladiator, she loves boasting and theatrics. Always teasing and prodding at her enemies mentally. Mind games are just as crucial to her combat code as strength and integrity. This love for theatrics comes with a story and a stiff ale outside of combat. Matilde enjoys playing up her exploits for the amusement of others. So, sit back and bring a snack cause she's more than willing to entertain.
Speaking of food, she isn't picky. She'll eat anything offered to her with little complaint. But be prepared for her to clear a pantry if you need more preparation. She respects those who take up a culinary career. This stems mainly from a lack of enjoyable food when she was in servitude to others.
At the core of her goals, though, is a sense of retribution that drives her. While she is relatively pleasant a majority of the time, if you piss her off, she won't correct yon on your mistake. She'll instead let you keep messing up until she finds it time to violently beat the lesson into you. So, be careful getting on her bad side cause she may just be planning your downfall.
Pirates[]
Matilde considers herself a pirate after escaping from her captors alongside Eris. She desires to eventually take a career path aside from piracy, but respects those who travel freely across the seas chasing their ambitions.
Animal Kingdom[]
As a member of the Animal Kingdom, Matilde considered them the closest thing to a family. She enjoyed the meals and stories she got to share amongst her crewmates. She would've die for much of the crew, and wishes she had for a particular member. However, she was left alive on one of the remaining island that still has remnants of her past Crewmates.
Eris[]
Despite the occasional friction of Matilde's larger-than-life personality and vindictive streak, she considers Eris a spiritual sister. Having escaped with her from the gladiator pits, she looked up to her once captain with unflinching devotion and affection. With Eris's apparent death after the war, Matilde has held onto the last scraps of her Captain's legacy, by remaining within the Badlands. Matilde has ben in a sulking state since she lost her captain, the Boar Pit her one devotion.
New Animal Kingdom[]
Matilde has conflicted feeling about the new generations seeking to take back their once lost glory. In some ways, she wishes to be alongside what could be a new family, but in another sense has no wish to join another crew after Eris's death. She fears the lose of another family, and also has grown to want other things. Matilde hasn't kept in touch with Horkos since the initial disbanding.
Powers and Abilities[]
Matilde isn't a master blacksmith, but her skills are serviceable. She's an expert in recycling and forging new weapons from the remain of others. A specialized forging style called Lembrar has allowed Matilde to come into her one. With six years of experience, she's striving to improve her craft with each project. Matilde also has four years worth of experience in the arena, giving her a complex understanding of combat. The history and codes of gladiators are drilled into Matilde. She knows how to fight with various weapons while facing a multitude of scenarios. She has experience with fist to fist, and beast fighting. Overall she has influence with her time as a gladiator and can always find work in markets, but her reputation is limited to the niche blood sports and blacksmithing.
Physical Abilities[]
Matilde is rather physically strong, having developed strong musculature from her training. Thanks to her mink traits she has access to Electro and Sulong. She hasn't used her sulong much, leading to an unpredictable furry state that Matilde can hardly control.
Fighting Style[]
Matilde's fighting style reflects her experience as a gladiator. Proficient with tridents, nets, bucklers, and various sports/combat equipment. Her personal armament is tridents, preferring to prod and zone out her targets with reach. Taunts, feints, and mix-ups are her bread and butter. Her mindset in combat is about theatrics and putting on a good show. She likes to drag out fights when it means more entertainment. She's likely to spare you unless her captain/captive casts a fatal judgment.
Roar of the Crowd[]
- Ray's Sting: Matilde unleashes a quick combo of jabs with her trident, meant to pester and keep her opponent on their toes. However, the technique is suitable for setting up heavier strikes and mix-ups.
- Skewer Toss: Piercing the opponent's body or snagging their apparel. Matilde uses her opening to force the target off their feet and into the dirt.
- Charging Boar: Rushing her target with ferocity, Matilde charges her opponent before shifting her weight into a leaping jab. She likes to open a string of attacks with this technique.
- Boar Bash: Playing off her target's guard or overextending attack, she strafes to her opponent's side and sends a haymaker at their body. She usually does this after feigning a jab to make the target flinch or catch her prey during their assault.
- Crowd Shocker: Using Electro to enhance her trident, Matilde thrusts her weapon forward with sparking speed as her weapon arcs with electricity. Be wary of her using this as a finisher; it will sting like bitch.
Haki[]
- Main article: Haki
Matilde has a very solid understanding of Haki from her time in the colosseum and beyond. While she is far from the most adept with the techniques she has found a good balance of the basics.

History[]
Past[]
Born on an island disconnected from Zou, Matilde's parents were enslaved minks who had just recently gained a baby boar. For a time, this newborn kept the family unit together as the slavers gaining future livestock was too valuable a prospect to waste. So, they kept the family unit secure for a time. The dad was the first to go, shipped off two months into Matilde's life. Something that upset the infant, but it didn't concern the workers. Once the baby boar had reached nine months, it was time for Matilde to be sent off. She could survive without her mother; that mattered to the slavers. So, they broke up the family and sent Matilde to the West Blue. She wouldn't ever remember the faces of her parents or her homeland. It was all a faint dream amongst the caged nightmare.
Matilde never remembered her birth name and wasn't given one once she joined the other livestock. So the infant only knew the farm for the next couple of years. An inhumane facility made for harvesting mink fur. Its walls were cut from thick stone. The livestock was kept in check, ensuring no window into the night sky and heavy electrical insulation. Nevertheless, some basic English was taught so that the minks that weren't aware of speech were educated enough to understand commands and concepts. Number 31526 was the child's designation within the facility. Her quarters were routinely sterilized mattresses and an itchy wool blanket on the floor. Her meals contained nutrient-rich stews and whatever the facility could muster without destroying the bottom line. The faculty performed check-ups and made sure Matilde was free of disease. None of this was done out of kindness, though. Matilde, who had been raised in this hellish routine, felt it was wrong, but as a kid, she was too frightened to resist like her older cellmates. It also meant that she didn't just disappear due to lacking unrest. Instead, she'd be sheared every couple of months. It was a flawed routine, as shearing frequency eventually made the fur short and bristly. But that didn't bother the slavers, who would replace the mink with a new one. For Matilde, her time would come at the age of 16.
Being sold to a talent agent at the age of 16, Matilde would be fed, and train in order to bulk up and become proficient enough to fight in the arena. She'd fight beasts and people alike for the frequenters of the arena. She she had grown from a nameless mink to a warrior of some acclaim. She had gotten tougher, bigger, and covered in scars. Gone was the flawless coat, now had become a time of mobility for Matilde even if she was still on the leash of her agency. However with each fight she gained more favor from the crowds and the arena owners who booked her. She had become a small time name, and by the age of twenty she had met an ambitious tiger mink
She had no desire to leave the pits at first. As a gladiator she had gained purpose and freedom unknown to her years prior. Yet, she was not naive. Her owners had no intent to respect her life or agency. Once she grew too old or wounded they'd permanently retire her. So, she'd make her escape with the future apex, and serve under the Animal Kingdom till their disbandment at the end of the War of Empires
