Mugentei Hikari, often shortened just to Hikari, is the Wakizashi once wielded by the late Admiral Yukyu Riko alongside its counterpart, the Katana Fuhen Kadai, together with which it became a feared and respected weapon. It is currently kept by one of Riko's apprentices, Al Khalifa Ain, as a keepsake.
Appearance[]
Mugentei Hikari is a short sword with a reddish tint to its blade, a brown handle, and a golden, unusually small guard. Its saya, proportionate to its small size, is black with a golden line pattern to it.
Abilities[]
Mugentei Hikari is a small, extremely swift blade that best lends to the Gentle Blade school of swordsmanship, as opposed to Fuhen Kadai's effectiveness with Strong Blade. Mugentei Hikari enabled Rikō to perform extremely swift and precise cuts that slipped past enemy defenses and allowed her to go for swift, unpredictable finishing blows.
While the blade has not actively seen combat after Ain became its owner, being mostly used as a way to keep Riko's memory alive, it is still in perfect fighting shape - a testament to its excellent craftsmanship and resilience.
History[]
After Riko broke her first Katana, she came to possess Mugentei Hikari and Fuhen Kadai, using them as her main weapons up until her death. While Fuhen Kadai was used to mark its owner's grave, Mugentei Hikari would find its way in Ain's hands, with the Marine using it as a keepsake of her teacher.
Due to its comparatively recent history compared to its counterpart, Mugentei Hikari is not currently ranked among the Meito.

- Mugentei Hikari's name is longer than Fuhen Kadai's, despite Wakizashis being smaller and shorter than Katanas.
- Mugentei Hikari and Fuhen Kadai are parallels to each other:
- Mugentei Hikari represents Riko as a teacher. It is a smaller, not-as-well-known blade, which she had created specifically to complete its set with its sister sword, that is currently inherited by someone else, since Riko's teachings live on.
- By contrast, Fuhen Kadai represents her as a Marine (more specifically, her as an Admiral).
