The Moku Moku no Mi is a Logia-type Devil Fruit that allows the user to create, control, and transform into smoke at will, making the user a Smoke Human (煙人間 Kemuri Ningen?).

Etymology[]

  • Mokumoku (モクモク/もくもく?) is onomatopoeic Japanese for smoke (or clouds, etc.) rising, rolling, and billowing up.
  • "Moku" is contained within Sumōku (?), the Japanese way of pronouncing "smoke" in English.
  • "Moku" is an anagram of Kumo (?), which means "cloud" in Japanese.

Appearance[]

The Moku Moku no Mi is a spherical fruit, grayish in color, featuring sections reminiscent of fluffy clouds with swirls on each, and topped with a green stem, resembling a melon.

Strengths and Weaknesses[]

The user of the Moku Moku no Mi is able to generate, manipulate, and become smoke. Like with most other Logia fruits, if the user is attacked, they can employ the fruit's powers to morph into smoke, making themselves intangible. Additionally, the Moku Moku no Mi grants users the ability to fly by turning their lower body into smoke, providing them with exceptional mobility.

The primary offensive capabilities of the fruit stem from the user's ability to manipulate the density of the smoke generated at will. This allows the user to engulf their targets with smoke and subsequently solidify it to trap enemies. Notable, the smoke can also serve as a blunt weapon, delivering powerful blows to enemies.

Trivia[]

  • This was the first Logia fruit introduced in the series.
  • The color of the smoke changed throughout the anime, starting as a darker shade of grey in Loguetown, to its current lighter grey color.
