Lizard-Men are a rare humanoid race of semi-aquatic reptilian beings that inhabit a chain of islands in the Calm Belt known as Salt Marsh.
Appearance[]
Lizard-Men appear as bipedal lizards with almost all possessing thick and dense scales, powerfully long reptilian tails, and lizard-like faces. Even more so than Fish-Man who can pass off as Humans, Lizard-Men are clearly monstrous in their appearance, possessing long snouts, sharp fangs, and clawed hands with clawed digitigrade feet. Like many species across the Four Blues, their size’s can vary greatly with some of the greatest among them towering over giants.
Unlike Fish-Men, Lizard-Men have largely evolved into four distinct subspecies, characterized by the nature of their most powerful aspect of their biology, their scales. There are the Horned, who possess distinct longer spines, frills, and boast greater strength and physical ability than the others. The Gecko who have much smaller, and slimmer scales but possess the unique ability of invisibility. The Toxin whose striped and colorful scales are capable of secreting deadly venom and finally the Deep whose scales allow them to absorb and release water both as a mechanism for undersea mobility as well as a form of attack.

Biology[]
Lizard-Men are a semi-aquatic reptilian humanoid hybrid species with both human and lizard features. While they lack gills like Fish-Men, they have adapted to be able to store oxygen within a special organ in their body allowing them to stay submerged for extended periods of time, measuring in hours for children to days at a time for the average adult. Yet as a humanoid hybrid they also possess mammalian traits, and this feature grants them extraordinary stamina and physical endurance as a result, bolstering their fighting prowess.
They are physically very large, towering above the average human standing at over twelve to eighteen feet in height. They are also quite muscular possessing an incredibly strong physique to compliment their warrior like life-style. Lizard-Men also have long thick tails that appear to serve as a means of giving them both balance and a means of aiding mobility while in the water. Thick, powerful muscles constitute its form, as its the strongest group of muscles in their body. A tail slap from a Lizard-Men is easily capable of felling most beasts and smashing apart trees and stone with ease.
As they are largely reptilian, they also have sharp fangs and claws on both their hands and digitigrade feet. This also applies to their senses granting them an extraordinary sense of smell. They also have a thin lens membrane that they can shift on or off over their eyes, allowing them to not only in colors beyond the average human eye, but granting them a thermal like vision, meaning that they can not only see just fine in the deep waters of the ocean, but they can also see in low light conditions and in complete darkness.
As their main homeland is Saltmarsh, which is an archipelago of small islands in the Calm Belt, they are constantly surrounded and hounded by Sea Kings. However as time passed their ancestors evolved to prey on Sea Kings, developing these extraordinary physical abilities to allow for even young adults to hunt Sea Kings. This evolution has resulted in the gradual formation of four distinct subspecies each with their own particular method of predation.
Dragon Scales[]
Dragon Scales (龍の鱗 Tatsu no Uroko?): All Lizard-Men possess extremely durable and highly resilient scales capable of withstanding tremendous punishment. Much like how the Mink's have their Electro, the Lizard-Men too possess their own unique ability, the Dragon Scales! As they have evolved to prey on Sea Kings, their bodies have naturally developed both defensive and offensive features that allow for this kind of predation. The ability to manipulate and control their Dragon Scales in their own unique way is what truly differentiates the subspecies of the Lizard-Men. While the Dragon Scale power of the Lizard-Men are specific to each tribe, they all possess the same extraordinary defensive capabilities, being able to withstand the attacks from Sea Kings, widely considered some of the most dangerous and feared creatures in the world.

Dragon Scales[]
There are four known subspecies of Lizard-Men and they all possess a unique ability attributed to the nature of their scales.
Horned[]
Giant Scale (ジャイアントスケール Jaianto Sukēru?): Horned Lizard-Men are characterized by the distinction of having many horns adorned across their body, most notably alongside the top and sides of their head, backside of their upper body along with their shoulders down to the hands, along the sides of their legs and all atop their tails. A function of these horns is that are porous and hollow serving as specialized vents that intake air allowing them to swell and puff up in size, significantly increasing their physical dimensions and brute strength. As an aside, this aspect of their biology makes them a "sibling tribe" to the Deep Lizard-Men whose bodies also possess specialized vents, albeit for different purposes. When they activate this ability they can grow up twice their size, vastly increasing their physical strength though their agility suffers. Skill with this ability is denoted by both how large they are able to become, as well as the degree of control, such as swelling only a single limb. Additionally venting the air can drastically increase their speed, or grant them a form of thrust and propulsion. This is also a noted talent with the ability, often used in the tail to explosively give them a burst in speed to close in on their prey. Curiously when used underwater the intake of water offers the same benefits as it does with oxygen, allowing them to use this ability on either land or sea. This deformation isn't permanent and within minutes the Horned Lizard-Men's body will forcibly vent the intake of air or water.
Toxin[]
Venom Bite (ベノム・バイト Benomu Baito?): One of the most potent means of defeating the Sea King lies in the poison secreted by the Dragon Scale power of the Toxin Lizard-Men. Along their body they possess unique glands that are capable of excreting a potent venomous gas or liquid.
Camo[]
Light Cutter (ライトカッター Raito Kattā?): The Camo Lizard-Men possess the Dragon Scale power to refract light using their scales. Like their sibling tribe the Toxin Lizard-Men, they too possess special glands throughout their body. However rather than a toxin, they secret a type of sweat or mucuous capable of perfectly refracting light however they wish, rendering them invisible.
Deep[]
Ocean Pressure (オーシェアン・プレシャー Ōshean Pureshā?): The Deep-Lizards much like their sibling tribe the Horned Lizard have elongated horns across their bodiea, though theirs are more sleek and numerous. These Lizard-Men are able to intake vast quantities of water and channel it through the vents across their body expelling vast quantities of water. This makes them the fastest and most mobile while in the sea. And like their siblings while on land this aspect can do the same with air allowing them to channel and expel great bursts of air. The water or air expelled im this manner is quite powerful, with the water pressure generated being strong enough to penetrate into solid stone, and the air creating great gusts of wind to blow prey away. This propulsive force is great enough that they typically ram into Sea Kings to push them to the surface where their fellow Lizard-Men lie in wait.
