Liu Hu is a young woman hailing from the nation of Kano Country in the West Blue, a former Privateer of Kano's Navy Hu's ferocity in spite of her small size would earn her the Epithet Palm Top Tiger (手乗りタイガー, Te Nori Taigā). During her time in Kano Country's Navy Hu specialized in hunting and tracking targets both in and outside of the country.
Leaving Kano in 1619 she set out into the West Blue headed for Paradise in hopes of catching up to her father and siblings who had set off for the Grand Line several years prior.
During her time within the East Blue she would find and consume the Neko Neko no Mi, Model: Byakko (ネコネコの実, モデル: 白虎, Cat Cat Fruit, Model: White Tiger) granting her the ability to transform herself into a large white tiger making her a White Tiger Human (白虎-にんげん, Byakko-Ningen) and granting her the ability to absorb energy and turn it into electricity she can use in combat.
Appearance[]
Liú Hu is a young woman hailing from the Qin region Kano. Standing in at a modest height of five feet four inches in height (One hundred and sixty two centimeters) and weighing approximately one hundred and thirty pounds (fifty eight Kilograms) Hu has a moderately muscular build for someone of her size. Hardly having the figure of what the masses might view as that of the ideal woman, Hu has broad shoulders, a modest bust, and lacks in the curves that one might associate with womanly charm. What she lacks in that she makes up for in raw muscular power, fit, healthy, and strong, Hu is the picture of physical health in those regards.
Her martial arts mastery requiring such from her, namely those of her arms. Powerful biceps, triceps, and the mutliple muscles found in the forearm all work together to produce the powerful strikes her fighting style requires to remain effective. The same can be said of her legs, well toned and maintained calf and gluteal muscles helping her to run and jump at heights befitting of her physical fitness and mink ancestry.
Hu possesses medium length light blue colored hair that she more often than not keeps up in a crudely pulled up hairstyle that results in two large columesque pillars of hair that stick up from the back of her head resembling messy pigtails. A clear sign that she knows little to nothing about how to style and maintain her own hair, in part due to the nature of her upbrining which saw such skills as useless and never learning them as a result.
Much like her hair her eyes possess a natural blue hue to them, bright and filled with light, like that of a tiger her pupil can dilate in response to an excess or lack of light, allowing her to see in low light conditions when the need occurs. As a half mink, Hu has a few other traits that hint at her ancestry including that of her long, sharp canine teeth that reach two and a half inches (Six point thirty five centimeters) in length and are capable of easily piercing through unguarded flesh.
Her teeth are not the only parts of her mouth that come from her half-mink bloodline but also her tongue as it possesses numberous papillae giving her tongue a rough, rasping texture which are used to groom as well as strip away feathers, flesh, fur, scales, and even meat off of prey. Two large cat-like ears sit upon the top of her head, unlike her tail the fur of her ears matches that of her hair, a light shade of blue.
Her calloused and scarred hands at the end of each finger have a long, curved claw-like finger nail measuring in at nearly three inches (Seven point sixty two centimeters) in length with these claws protruding directly from the flesh of her fingers and curving over them both to protect the flesh of her fingers but also to allow her to dig them into opponents and hold onto them with deadily efficiency. The same can be said for her toe nails, which too have that same long curvature which allows her to use both her hands and, when needed, her feet to grab onto or climb people or objects. Her last but not least obvious trait of her half mink ancestry is that of her long, white fur covered tail, extending out from the base of her spine similar to that of a monkey's tail. Her tail is just over three feet in length (Ninety one point forty four centimeters) and a bright snowy white color with black rings all down the fur with a black colored tip at the end.
Hu's attire tends to consist of a light blueish-grey colored Tang suit, consisting of a traditonal duijin. A Kanonese style jacket made up of cotton cloth, knotted 'frog' buttons down the length of the front. Similar to her duijin, her pants are a light blueish-grey and are made out of the same materials held up by a rope belt and a pair of 'tai chi' shoes, a style of Kanonese slip on shoes often worn my martial arts practioners. It should be noted that despite being a woman, one might notice that Hu wears men's style tai chi slippers. On her ankles, calves, wrists, and forearms she wraps them with kumpurs. A type of wrapping used when practicing martial arts to help protect the hands and feet as well as keep the bones aligned in such a way to prevent injury. They are made up of several layers of tape and gauze tighty wrapped around both the arms and legs. These wrappings are white in color.
Personality[]
Upon first inspection one would not be in the wrong to describe Liú Hu as a crass or unrefined woman as more often than not she isn't one to settle her disputes through word play or well thought out argument but rather with her fists or rather, her claws. Raised in isolation in the forests of Kano Country alongside her family, the social hierarchy of her family was that of strength and where you fell in the pecking order was decided by that strength. As such, where many would see harsh treatment and cruelty, Hu saw love and as such she was raised with a twisted perception of what things like love and affection mean and thus when expressing things like affection or genuine respect, she tends to do so through action.
Though she uses battle as a form of self expression it would be remiss to say that she does not get joy or excitement out of these bouts of violence, finding the act of battling strong opponents thrilling, enjoying meeting the challenge of there opponents head on as its different from hunting down animals in the forests of Kano
As such she often finds herself disappointed when someone can't live up to her standards of what she considers to be strong, actively mocking and belittling those who are weaker than her in similar respect to the treatment she experienced from her elder siblings in her youth. Regardless of her taste for battle over other forms of expression or conversation, Hu prefers that such battles happen on her own terms. Not enjoying the act of fighting those that she has no qualms with or personal reason to fight against.
Hu shows a strong sense of comradery and loyalty to those she considers her allies, acting casually around them and expressing her ideas and opinions openly even after only first meeting them at times and going out of her way to keep them safe even in instances where it would be more beneficial to her to let them to handle themselves or to the fate their own actions brought upon them. Describing herself as a "Water off a ducks back" sort of woman, quick to forgive allies that put her in danger or wronged her in some way so long as everything turned out well, choosing to let it go over holding grudges over them. Though Hu is neither kind nor warm to her enemies, even among them she shows no hesitance to treat those who have earned her respect with some degree of high regard, adhereing the social hierarchy of "Might makes right" under which she was raised.
Perhaps her willingness to forgive comes from her own tendency to be quick to anger, snapping back at those who interrupt or annoy her with rude remarks or gestures of her own. Her anger can flare up in many scenarios, such as one where in which she feels her opponent or opponents are fighting dishonorably.
Though not considered to be intelligent by traditional means, Hu is a cunning woman both on and off the battlefield. A keen eye and a good nose, Hu is an expert in both the arts of tracking and hunting. Able to see things that others may miss as well as give an accurate summation of the evidence she's gathered. In battle this cunning is often shown through her quick thinking even when fighting opponents blessed with powers beyond her own, able to notice and exploit weaknesses in her foes once she has an understanding of what it is she's up against.
During combat Hu perfectly embodies the predatory large cat from which she gets the majority of her half-mink features from. Brutal, ferocious, efficient, and deadly. A focused, powerful, and lethal killing machine that strikes first and asks questions later, not hesitating to attack those she views as a threat. Always attempting to go for the most debilitating blows she can strike on a target without a second thought. Tapping into her inner tiger to find opportunities to use her long claws to grab hold of her targets and bite down onto their throats like a beast taking down its prey. It is through this nature that Hu reveals her philosphy, "Survival of the fittest", those who want to live will fight and those who win will get to live.
Relationships[]
Family[]
Liú Biao[]
The Father to Hu and her elder siblings as well as the man that Hu looks up to the most, a massive white tiger mink, Liú Biao was not known as a kind or gentle man. A man who coveted strength and power as the most important thing in the world he raised his children to share in his ideology and as a result is the one who hammered Hu's philosophy and outlook on the world into her mind from the moment she was old enoug begin asking questions about the world. As the most human and thus considered the weakest of his three children, he tended to treat Hu to harsher training and more frequent punishments when she fell behind her siblings at a pace he found unacceptable though rather than come to resent the man or hold him in contempt this cruelty at her expense, as strength and power dictated the social hierarchy of their family she began to see the treatment as a form of love and as such her perception of such an idea has been warped beyond recognition.
As such, Hu spent her entire childhood vying for her father's love and approval but in the year of 1612 these dreams and desires would come crashing down around her as her father and her siblings would leave her and her mother behind in Kano while they set sail for the Grand Line, with her pleas to join them met only with laughter and ridicule from the family she looked up to the most, her father left her with these parting words: "On the Grand Line only the strong survive and the weak are crushed beneath their feet. You, my child, are weak". Those were the last words the Hu heard from her father before he and her elder siblings left Kano for the Grand Line. Since that day Hu has trained, putting herself through hell so that one day she'll be strong enough to gain his approval, strong enough to never be weak again.
Liú Hui-ying[]
Hu's mother and the mother of her elder siblings, she is the reason that she and her siblings are half minks. Liú Hui-ying is a human woman hailing from the nation of Kano, once a rich noble woman she fell in love with the Mink tribe Tiger mink Liú Biao and in doing so gave up her life of luxury to marry the man. A kind, gentle, but frail woman Hu grew up watching how due to her human blood labeling her as a "Lesser Mink" as well as her frail body seeing her at the bottom rung of their family's social hierarchy she was treated poorly by both their father as well as her elder siblings.
Even so, despite the abuse both physical and verbal from her husband and children alike never once did Hu witness her mother raise a hand or lash out at any of them in any way. It is due to this that Hu would begin to resent her mother, originally only having joined in with her siblings as it was one of the only times she could fit in with the far larger and more powerful half-minks that made up her elder brothers and sister, but as she watched her mother take the abuse with a smile on her face Hu began to see her mother as a coward that was too weak to stand up to even her own children.
As Hu would grow further and find herself falling behind her elder siblings much to her father's disappointment, being labeled by her siblings as being the most "Human" of them all, her resentment for her mother would only grow, now blaming the blood of her mother's side of the family for making her weak. She saw the humanity given to her by her mother to be a curse and that by having the most of it out of all of her siblings doomed her to a fate as a cowardly weakling no different from her mother and taking out all of her frustration and insecurity on her as a result. As such, Hu's treatment of her mother became far worse, never laying a hand on her like her father did but berating her with cruel and harsh words. After her father left, Hu too would leave their forest to join Kano's Navy, having no idea if her mother still resides in their family home or not.

Powers and Abilities[]
Physical Abilities[]
- Main article: Mink Tribe
Minks are known to the world as both powerful and beautiful beings often sought out in the slave trade for their furs. However, on occasion there are times when a Mink might mate or breed with a Human or "Lesser-Mink" as those of the Mink tribe would describe them as they view humans as similar if not the same to themselves only lacking in fur. When such a bond occurs the resulting spawn is known to the greater world as a half-mink. Like their mink ancestors Half-Minks share similar traits to those of animals. In the case of Hu this is best shown by her feline features, namely those of her tail, teeth, eyes and claws. All of which take the form of that of a tiger's as her father was exactly that, a Tiger Mink.
Aside from those most noticeable traits half-minks possess other traits to those of their mink bloodline. Such is the case when it comes to their ability to use the natural mink ability of Electro, an ability that seemingly allows them to build up electricity within their body and release it to attack. Minks also seem to have some natural resistence to electricity as otherwise utlizing this ability would be far more dangerous that it seems to be, this resistence seemingly being something minks have from birth as electro is an ability avaliable to them from that age onward. As a half-mink Hu cannot produce as much electro as that of a full blooded mink, the reason for this is not known for certain however as electro is speculated to be produced in part by the fur it is theorized that half minks cannot generate as much due to lacking as much fur as a full blooded mink tribe member might.
Other traits that Hu seemed to adopt from her tiger mink bloodline are have to do with her senses, excellent eyesight and an astounding nose, Hu is capable of hunting and tracking prey no different than that of a tiger. Minks also appear to age differently than humans, though it is currently unknown if Minks live longer than their "Lesser-mink" counterparts it should be noticed that Minks appear to remain at their peak far longer than humans, most minks maintaining their peak strength and abilities well into old age.
Minks and thus, Half-minks alike are known to have superior healing abilities to that of humans in the sense that their bodies recover faster than them. This is said to be due to a much faster metabolism allowing their bodies to abosrb nutrients faster and thus increse their recovery rate. The Mink physiology also seems to enhanced the strength and overall abilities of a mink, typically enchancing traits that fit the animal they take after. In Hu's case, her physical strength, agility, and balance are enhanced by her mink bloodline. As minks are natural born fighters from birth, this makes the woman a powerful foe to combat as her animal traits only further such abilities.
Though having trained in the ability all of her life, Minks are born and bred for stealth and hunting. Even those minks whose animal resemblance focus on that of pure power or aren't know for being stealthy at all still excel in this art. As such, for Hu, being that of tiger mink lineage and with tigers being known as some of the most successful hunters on the planet, Hu quickly took to such an art naturally and even further would go onto excel in the art.
As a member of the mink tribe, being a half-mink, Hu was a natural born fighter the moment she was able to stand on her own two feet, as a half tiger mink her fighting ability has always been vicious and ferocious as her big cat instincts helped to drive her toward more brutal forms of combat. However, Hu is not only fueled by those natural instincts but also through discipline earned through years of difficult, demanding, brutal, and sometimes cruel training at the hands of her Tiger mink father and older sibilings.
Being the most humanoid of her family aside from her human mother, Hu was not as quick to catch on the concepts and ideas of her father's teachings, sometimes finding it difficult to keep at the pace he desired of her and leading to him to be greatly disappointed in her at several points of her life. However, while many would fall in despair at the thought of not measuring up to the expectations of their loved ones, Hu used her failings as motivation to further her abilites. As such, she spent and still spends a great deal of her life in training, mastering the martial art of Fu Jow Pai or "The Tiger's Claw" before reaching adulthood as well as reaching a high level of skill in the art of Seimei Kikan, embracing both the physical and spiritual sides of martial arts to grant her a great deal of control over her own body as she forged it into a powerful combat machine.
Hunting/Tracking Mastery[]
Growing up in the harsh forests of Kano outside the bounds of regular civilization Hu and her family were taught to hunt at a young age in order to help provide for her family. As a half mink she has many greater advantages over humans in the realm of the forests where tracking and hunting can be quite the dangerous task. Her enhanced sense of smell and hearing allow her to track the scents of people and wildlife over vast distances, following their scents when tracking down prey and the sounds of their pain cries and panicked breathing after having gotten the initial strike in.
Being of the feline mink line on her father's side, Hu is equipped with the ability to see in low light conditions, giving her an even greater advantage over many of the other humans in Kano even if her abilities are not up to par with that of a full bloodied mink. To make up in the areas of that regard in which she lacked she paid careful attention to 'the language of the forest' as she would come to call it. Every footprint, every broken branch, all of it told its own story of who and what had moved through any given area. Eventually, she became good enough at this to be able to tell not only the animal a set of tracks belonged to but also accurately estimate its size both in height and weight.
As she grew older she would further apply these skills not only for tracking animals down for food but upon joining Kano's Niho Navy she would use her skills to track down criminals and missing people.
Electro[]
- Main article: Electro
Electro is a natural ability among members of the mink tribe the ability to utilize electro, an ability of unknown but heavily theorized origin, that allows those of the mink tribe as well as some half-minks to produce electricity within their bodies which they can then use to enchance their attacks to shock or paralyze opponents. Mink tribe members can produce this electricity and even coat their bodies in it, seemingly having some form of immunity or resistence to the electricity produced by their own bodies. Though some half-minks are capable of using electro, even among them the amount of electricity that they can produce is less than that of a full blooded mink tribe member.
It is not fully known why this is but many believe it to be due to many of not all half-minks having less fur on their bodies than full bloodied minks, this theory working alongside the similar theory that a mink's fur is what allows them to utilize the power of electro by gathering it within said fur. All the same, the ability to use and amount of electro that half-mink can produce may very well come down to simple genetics as there are many humans withint the world that have mink-like physical traits but do not or simply do not know if they share any mink ancestry. Meaning that among half-minks, one might lose the ability in their family later on down the line should they not produce spawn with other minks or half-minks.
Hu is a half-mink that is capable of producing and using the power of electro, capable of using the more close ranged aspects of the power. She can only produce enough electricity to cover her body with and is unable to attack with it without requiring herself to come into physical contact with her opponent outside of using some sort of conductive source such as water or some sort of metal on which she can send a current down outside of specific circumstances in which she has been given time to build up electro over a period of time. In such cases she is able to, for a brief period of time, release her electro into mid-range attacks or like an aura around her shocking anything that comes near.
Sulong Form[]
- Main article: Sulong
Sulong is another natural ability of the mink tribe, said to even be their 'true' forms. Sulong is an ability which sees someone carrying mink in their bloodline able to transform when given a clear and unobstructed view of the full moon. As such, it is an ability that can only be activated when the full moon is present in the sky and even then, only when the mink in question can view it clearly. This means that any obstruction be it clouds, the roof over one's head, covering ones eyes, and even tinted glasses can prevent a mink from transforming. However, when a mink is able to clearly view the full moon they can begin their transformation.
Transforming is known to enhance the traits of a mink, in the case of Hu, as a tiger mink the traits most ehanced by the transformation are that of her physical abilities. The strength and stamina of all of her attacks are increased as well as her movement speed with her eyesight being enhanced to the point of seeing as clear as day even in the dark of the night. Like all Minks, when Hu undergos the transformation her eyes turn from her stunning blue to red along with the hair and fur on her body turning white and growing in length. Hu's face elongates a bit, becoming more animalistic and more like the tiger from which her mink blood derives from. Upon completing the transformation her entire body sparks with electricity. Just as with the many strengths that come with this new form there are also many weaknesses.
Despite being such a powerful ability, Minks are only capable of utlizing this ability once every thirty days upon the arrival of the full moon. Even upon its arrival those who have not trained themselves to handle the ability can lose control of themselves, regressing to an animalistic state of mind in which they may hurt everyone around them even those they care about. Finally, the most dangerous drawback to this transformation comes in the form of the stamina that it drains. Transformations even for a full blooded mink are short lived as the energy consumption necessary to maintain such a form is staggering and thus the importance of learning to control the transformed state cannot be understated as should the mink in question not be able to transform back they may very well die.
Fu Jow Pai[]
Fu Jow Pai, also known as "Tiger Claw School" or "Black Tiger System" is a school of Kung Fu and a martial art originating in the Chu region of Kano, Fu Jow Pai is a style of Martial arts seeking to mirror the ferocity of an attacking tiger. Fu Jow pai's techinques revolve around using the palm and tips of the fingers to rip, tear, claw, and grasp at their opponents. A deadily martial art that aims to be as powerful as the animal it is based after, practioners spend years in training to model their bodies after the ferocious tiger.
Using their palms and the tips of their fingers to strike at hard wooden targets, purposely creating small microfractures in the tips of their fingers to be filled in by osteoblasts to strengthen the bone against any further and future injuries. Further training involves the use of heavy rice or bean sacks which a practioner will toss into the air and practice both striking and catching at the same time to help improve their grip strength.
By the time of mastery the palms and finger tips of a practioner is said to feel extremely reduced pain in those regions. Though to those looking in from the outside the tiger's claw might appear to be a random flurry of scratching attacks those who practice in the art understand that this is far from the case. Just like the mighty tiger from which this style gets its name the martial art of Fu Jow Pai's initial strike is that of a palm thrust.
Practitioners use the top most bony part of the palm to strike their target before using their powerful finger and grip strength to tear away at flesh or grab onto targets by raking their fingers and claws down from the spot of the initial strike. Those initial strikes are what gives the style its knock out potential, powerful palm thrusts to the face being capable of stunning or disorienting a target before maiming them with their raking claws that can easily tear away at loose flesh like that of lips, ears, and even eyelids.
Seimei Kikan[]
Seimei Kikan, also sometimes referred to as "Life Return" or "Existence Return" and is a form of bodily function mainipulation. It is a technique that allows the user to have full control over their own bodies, giving them the ability to move parts of their bodies that one would otherwise think to be impossible such as their hair or finger and toe nails, both parts of the body not made up of living cells that receive eletrical signals through nerves like the rest of bodies do thus being why one can cut their hair or nails without feeling pain.
However, it is not only these dead cells that users of this technique can take control over as they are even capable of controling other involuntary functions over their body included but not limited to their metabolism, being through this that they can instantly gain energy from food they eat even moments after eating it. The exact level of this control is dependent upon the mastery of the technique by the user but those who have mastered it can control these parts and functions no differently than moving their hands and legs.
- Piercing Tiger Claw (徹虎爪, Tekkosō) is a technique of Seimei Kikan that Hu produced herself during her training in the art, one which involves the process of Hu striking out in such a way that she either claws into or delivers a palm thrust against an opponent, at which point the attack is delivered be it a one or two handed strike, Hu will use the art of Seimei Kikan to accelerate the growth of her nails well and far beyond the normal growth rate for them.
An action that will, in seemingly an instant see her nails suddenly grow out to the length of a sword (Eighty Centimeters or thirty-one inches) to penetrate the body of her opponent, skewering them and anything between the explosive growth of the nails and their newly acquired length. The length of the nails quickly returning to their normal size.
The damage left behind by this attack can be devastating depending wholly on where in the body the victim is struck and what organs were pierced by the blade-like claws. This technique can be compared partially to the Rokushiki technique referred to as Shigan though the while that technique focuses on the strength of the fingers to pierce into targets, Hu's piercing claw technique focuses on the sudden near explosive growth of the already sharp claws to pierce into and through flesh alike.
- Maneater (マンイーター, Man'ītā) is a special technique of Seimei Kikan produced by Hu's mink father and passed down to Hu herself after having advanced enough in the art to control the necessary bodily functions to produce the desired results that culminate into creating 'Maneater'. Through the use of Seimei Kikan Hu takes control of her heart, lungs, and metabolism. Sending all three of these into overdrive increase the amount of oxygen flowing into her muscles and in turn producing a sort of protienogenic overdrive.
In this state all of her body's physical abilities are enhanced and as a result of this her body begins to resemble that of a furnace with any sweat she produces immediately evaporating into steam as well as her attacks burning bright with flame as a result of this increase in bodily process. This is not a technique that she can use freely and without consequence however as not only can she not maintain it for extended periods of time but once she has ended the technique Hu is also left utterly and completely exhausted from it until she has eaten or rested. It should be noted that Hu can extend the time limit of this state by consuming meat most often in the form of the flesh of her targets. The nutrients consumed in this way feeds into her overclocked metabolism and thus allows it to produce more energy for a short time. It is the act of consuming those attacked to extend the state that the technique gets its name: Maneater.
While in this state though her physical appearance does not change her breathing becomes much faster, steam bellowing from her body, and a red glow appearing to emanate from the muscles in her arms, legs, and back. When maneater is active, though she will still attack in the style of the tiger's claw it should be noted that just as her speed and strength have increased the ferocity of her attacks too have increased, fighting like a wild animal trying desperately to survive. Given that this is her last resort, she might very well be doing just that.
Culinary Expertise[]
- Main article: Cook
Raised in the forests of Kano, Hu's favorite food was that of the fish found in the many rivers that flowed through the region and as such, as she got older her skill with making dishes involving these ingredients. Hu is a master cook when it comes to catching, preparing, and cooking dishes revolved around both fresh and salt water fish. Grilled, fried, baked, souped, and curried. If it has fish in it the Tigress can make it. Her skills evolved later in life due to her joining to Niho navy to include other sea-based lifeforms such as shellfish like shrimp, lobster, crabs, clams, mussels and oysters. Though her cooking ability with seafood is unquestionable that same skill does not translate into land-based meats such as cows, chicken, and pork. Therefore, any looking to have her cook for their crew had better not grow tired of seafood lest they starve.
