Ice-Touch is a full-contact martial art, originating in the North Blue on the island of Snowball but having since spread across the world. It was created by Mafuko Tsukuyomi over 300 years ago.
Created by the usage of Life Return in order to lower the natural body temperature well below it's usual levels, it's ability to freeze opponents has made it a popular martial art for those coming from Winter Islands, who are more used to the cold. Due to the need to freeze the body in order to pull out the full capabilities, those who master it are capable of surviving extreme cold that'd normally kill someone, granting them the title of Revenant (レヴナント Revunanto).
Overview[]
As stated by Lalah, the primary ability of the fighting style is using Life Return to lower the body temperature of the user's limbs, moving the heat to the center in order to freeze the limbs. By doing this, the limbs frost over and become very conductive to heat, sucking it up on contact and freezing targets with every strike. These freezing strikes have the capability to freeze small bodies of water in an instant, and can disable a person in a single punch.
In combat Ice-Touch emulates Taekwondo, using upward kicks combined with short-ranged but powerful punches in order to rapidly cool down a foe and eventually freeze them. One of the most major weaknesses to the Ice-Touch style however is fire. This is because the absorption of too much heat can put too much strain on the center of the body, and with the heat that comes off from fire it can easily cause beginner practitioners to overheat and fall unconcious by accident.

Techniques[]
General Techniques[]
- Snow Fist (雪 拳, Yukiken): Retracting the heat from the arm, the user throws a punch forward that drains heat from contact, freezing the surface struck. This attack can cause slight internal damage depending on how strong the punch is, but regardless of force the punch is capable of instantly cooling water to the freezing point, even for a beginner.
- Icicle Snow Fist (つらら雪 拳, Tsurara Yukiken): A much stronger version of the Snow Fist. It is an incredibly powerful punch that involves covering the fist with a layer of ice by freezing the very air, with the power capable of freezing a good chunk of ocean if used underwater.
- Slush Snow Fist (スラッシュ雪 拳, Surasshu Yukiken): A variation of the Snow Fist technique, but used as a uppercut. By focusing the freezing force upward, the user is capable of stealing a lot more heat from the target by dragging the fist up the opponent's body, leaving a trail of ice from the initial point of contact to the opponent's face.
- Snow Rabbit Waltz (雪うさぎのワルツ, Yukiusagi no Warutsu): The user hops around rapidly, throwing Snow Fists in a rapid volley in between hops as they move across the battlefield. By jumping around rapidly, the user is capable of moving in and out of the opponent's range while also unleashing a rapid assault to chill down the opponent with.
- Snow Kick: Retracting heat from the user's leg, the user launches a kick towards the opponent's face that drains heat from contact, freezing the surface struck. Besides using the leg rather than the arm, it's power and capabilities are about on par with the Snow Fist, though with more length due to how a user's legs can often be longer than their arm's reach for a proper practitioner.
- Hail Snow Kick: The Snow Kick variation of Icicle Snow Fist, which involves creating a layer of ice over the leg in order to give increased freezing power. Much like it's punching counterpart, it can freeze a good portion of the ocean if used underwater.
- Snow Roundhouse: A variation of Snow Kick involving getting on a handstand and spinning around in a 360 degree spin. By using the Snow Kick this way, the user is capable of hitting multiple targets and freezing them all at once, all while defending the user.
- Snow Axe (雪斧, Yuki Ono): The user raises their leg high into the air, retracting heat much like the standard Snow Kick technique before launching their leg downward onto the target's head.
- Snow Knifehand: The user holds their hand in a knifehand pose, retracting heat from it before slashing at the opponent at a vertical angle. Besides freezing on impact, the karate chop also serves as a cutting technique, the force from the karate chop being capable of parrying blades and cutting through human flesh.
- Blizzard Snow Knifehand: The Snow Knifehand variation of Icicle Snow Fist, the user creates a layer of ice over their hand before launching a karate chop. When used underwater, it is capable of launching a icy wave as a projectile while on land it is able to use the ice in order to cut through not just flesh but through other objects such as stone or steel, much like a blade.
- Snow Grip: The user grabs onto an opponent's limb, using it as a contact point to suck an opponent's heat dry. This leaves a ordinary opponent freezing after a few seconds of combat, though stronger opponents are capable of resisting with Haki and the use of Devil Fruit abilities.
- Freeze Thrust: A simple palm thrust blocking technique, which freezes a weapon solid to dull it enough so as to push it away with incredible force. By using this in incredible repetition, it is capable of causing enough chill to a metal weapon to turn it brittle, making it easy to break.
- Snow Flicker (雪ちらつき, Yuki Chiratsuki): A hidden technique of Ice-Touch, only usable by masters of the style. By applying the style to both hands and feet, the user freezes the ground with each step to make it slippery, giving them extra momentum. The user then uses that momentum to perform a palm heel strike squarely into the opponent's nose. This deadly attack is primarily used as a finishing move, due to how dangerous the technique is when used on opponents compared to the rest of Ice-Touch's techniques.
Lalah's Techniques[]
- Laphan Snow Kick: A variation of Snow Kick developed by Lalah during her time on Drum, the Laphan Snow Kick mimics a Laphan's jumping motions, leaning down to jump high before launching both legs directly into the opponent's gut. By using both legs, this technique is capable of tearing through steel armor allowing her to freeze her way through an opponent's protections and contact their body directly.
- Snow Debris (雪デブリ, Yuki Deburi): Using one of her limbs, Lalah scratches it across a flat surface such as a floor or wall before pulling it off incredibly fast, launching fragments of ice that are fast enough to leave gunshot-like wounds on impact. One major weakness of this technique is that it requires a surface to make contact with, making it useless if Lalah is stuck in the air.
- Snow Blossom (雪花, Yukihana): Lalah's strongest technique, making use of both a application of Ice-Touch and her Carbonation Equipment. Freezing her arms while the gauntlets are running, Lalah pulls both of them back before slamming them together into a target's chest, leaving a large blossom-shaped impact on the target's chest and further firing out a extremely cold Carbonated Burst everywhere around her. This technique is capable of destroying an entire building and shaking the foundations of other nearby buildings, while it's icy force was able to freeze an entire platoon of soldiers, knocking them unconscious even without making direct contact with the attack.
Training[]
In order to train with Ice-Touch, the user is required to learn under a master of the style for an indeterminant amount of time. This training is primarily done upon a Winter Island, where conditions are frigid to the bone in order to ensure that the user is constantly exposed to the sheer cold of winter during every single day. While learning the style, users are expected to wear only the lightest of clothing, usually just a pair of pants for men and a tank top and shorts for women. In addition, they are only allowed to consume special Redroot Curry for meals, a special curry supplement that is required for the initial process in unlocking a user's aptitude in regards to manipulating their own body temperature.
Initial training consists of strapping entire blocks of ice to the user around both of their arms and legs. For Devil Fruit users, the user is also wrapped in a banding made of Seastone in order to prevent them from cheating using a Devil Fruit. They are then required to run across the island, traversing heavy hikes while also fighting against a island's beasts. After a practitioner has proven to survive for 4 months straight of training, they then begin learning the techniques of the martial art in earnest, using what they learn on dummies made of seastone until they have mastered each and every technique.
Once a practitioner has learned enough (usually after around 3 years, though some exceptional students have achieved this level in a shorter time frame), they may challenge their teacher at any time. Once they succeed at besting them, they can be considered a proper master in Ice-Touch.
Training Locations[]
- Subabsolute Zero: The original temple, located on Snowball. A massive temple complex built on the Winter Island, Subabsolute Zero serves as the "Birthplace of Ice-Touch", where the martial art was first being made by Tsukuyomi. Currently, the temple is held within the hands of Mafuko Yukishiki, a bombastic grand master of the martial art who once used his mighty capabilities in order to freeze an Ancient Giant to death.
- Lednikovyy Temple: A temple within Drum Kingdom owned by the master Lunari Lalah. Very recently built, it's unique draw is a freezing pool within the middle, which is used in order to train in using the martial art underwater, as well as handling subzero waters.
- Mochi Picchu: A temple in the New World, which is reported to be within Totto Land. As a New World temple, Mochi Picchu is a gathering spot for the various masters of Ice-Touch to make it to the New World rather than specifically a training temple, though Mochi Picchu still accepts students. Shares it's dojos with a dojo for Hasshoken, leading to the two styles to fight for superiority.
