- Hanuman is named for the Hindu god of the same name. Hanuman is the god of wisdom, strength, courage, devotion, and self-discipline. He is also based on Sun Wukong, who many believe is derived from Hanuman.
- Aside from his Dharmic inspirations, Hanuman is also stylized after characters and concepts from Naruto.
- Physically, Hanuman was made to appear as a more humanoid version of Son Goku, the Four-Tailed Monkey
- His epithet of "Thousand Armed" is partially derived from the Senju clan, a power clan within the series.
