History[]

After the last embers of the Straw Hat Pirates died out, Fish-Man Island was no longer protected by one of the world's most powerful groups. The news spread like wildfire, drawing many eyes toward its lands. The current king at the time also grew very ill from a strange disease that spread throughout the previous royal family. Leaving another huge power gap in society. The people of the island grew into turmoil and chaos, many pirates and other fishman driven by power, greed, and desperation all gunned for the throne.

This incited many proxy wars around the island, causing a massive civil war between native pirate crews, former loyal royals to the throne, and other outsider presences. This event was called the "Sea Cliff Wars". There were three major factions that took part in wars. The Stonehead pirates, the former royal army, and outsiders named New Fate.

In these wars, many died at all ends of the spectrum with many landmarks being destroyed and erased to rubble. The civil war was ongoing for 65 consecutive years until a pirate crew from the New World took a visit. (Timeline: 1587)

This crew was known as the Black Sea Pirates and they were a notorious, ruthless crew of fishmen that were noted to be violent towards humankind, and famous for flaying their bodies and attaching them to their ship masts. The crew was led by a powerful megalodon fishmen known as Curry Dutchmen. The crew had about a total of 10 official members and a large fleet of 50,000 men. Once this crew arrived on fishman island, it would take them about a week to work their way through the island, quelling all armies and small parties one by one.

With the arrival of the Black Sea Pirates, it took them about two more years before the crew had gained control of a large portion of Fishman Island, including Ryugu Palace, Mermaid Cove, The Fishman District and the Sea Forest. Over these two years, the crew expanded their forces from 50,000 men to 1,500,340 men

Everyone on the island soon started to regard the Dutchmen as the newest king. It wouldn't be until 1590 that Dutchmen and his crew conquered the remaining portions of pirate crews and adversary combatants, officially ending the long-spanning civil war. Dutchmen officially claimed the title of King of Fishmen Island, moving into Ryugu Palace, and establishing a new kingdom Atlantis. The island would begin immediate reconstruction building up brand new cities and lands that were destroyed over the years of the civil war.

For the next decade (1590-1600), Fish-Man Island slowly built itself up, using the knowledge gained from the surface and given by the Black Sea Pirates. Dutchmen created a fair society for fishmen to live freely as they pleased as long as they pledged loyalty to the crown. Everyone who was a resident on the island was mandated for a 2-year enlistment into the Black Sea Pirates doing time on the surface and gaining necessary seafaring experience. This way everyone who was of age was able to fight and protect themselves and their home if need be.

For the next 20 years (1600-1620) the nation of fishmen and merfolk grew into a strong powerful nation of pirates and warriors loyal to the Curry Family.
