Fafnir was a giant born in the North Blue who was transformed into a humanoid dragon by a witch. She cursed him due to his greed for money and his habit of scamming the people who worshipped him, believing him to be a deity named Eldr Gud. After being cursed he left the island of Helgafell Island and became a pirate.

As he grew, he decided to impersonate this god to gain money from the people. However, he was caught by a witch who placed a curse on him, transforming him into a dragon-giant hybrid. This led him to leave the island and become a pirate.
