The Devil Fruit Encyclopedia is a reference book compiled by the World Government that contains information on known Devil Fruits. This serves as a database for all the Devil Fruits, both from official sources and of fan creation, within One Piece: Eclipse Wiki and who currently possesses each fruit.
Overview[]
The Devil Fruit Encyclopedia is broken up into multiple sections that cover the three classifications of Devil Fruits: Paramecia, Zoan, and Logia. The encyclopedia lists the names and abilities of all known Devil Fruits, as well as an image if one is known. The fruits are kept in alphabetical order within each of their categories.
The first section covers Paramecia Devil Fruits, the most common and diverse category. Devil Fruits of this type allows the consumer to achieve one of a large variety of abilities that enables them to become "superhuman" or perform a superhuman feat. Common abilities for this classification of fruit includes bodily alteration, environmental manipulation, and substance generation. This also includes the subclass of Paramecia known as Special Paramecia, which is similar to the substance generation-type fruits with the added benefit of transforming into that substance as well. As such, it can be mistaken as a Logia, but tend to be centered around a manmade substance.
The second section covers Zoan Devil Fruits. Devil Fruits of this type allows a user to transform into an animal species at will, or an inter-species hybrid. Zoans are said to have "a will of their own," even before consumption, with some likening it to a strange, otherworldly power coming off of it. A majority of the Zoan Devil Fruits come in different groups, known as "series", differentiated by specific species classification, known as "models". These groups are divided based on the different variations of animal. Most Zoan fruits only provide the three basic forms: the Human Form (人型 Hito-gata?), the Human-Beast Form (人獣型 Jinjū-gata?), and the Beast Form (獣型 Kemono-gata?). However, through training or the use of certain drugs, it is possible for Zoan users to unlock additional transformations. These section also includes Ancient Zoan Devil Fruits, a rarer class of Zoan fruits that allow the user the ability to transform into ancient/prehistoric animals that no longer exist in modern ecosystems. On top of a significant physical power boost, Ancient Zoan transformations may come with bodily traits not seen in modern-day animals, which may be advantageous in combat, as well as grant very abnormal physical abilities that, supposedly, the ancient animals in question were naturally capable of. Finally, this section includes Mythical Zoan Devil Fruits, the rarest class of all Devil Fruits that allow the user the ability to transform into creatures that are the subject of myth and legend and are considered by some the most powerful Zoan category and even of all Devil Fruit types overall. Mythical Zoans demonstrate some of the most varied properties of any Devil Fruit: on top of the transformation itself, most come with "mythical" abilities that are Paramecia-like in nature. Other Mythical Zoan fruits allow the user to control elements, though these work differently to the ones conferred by Logia powers—the user can only project the element, not transform into it, thus lacking the amorphous bodies of Logia users.
The third section covers Logia Devil Fruits. Devil Fruits of this type allows its holder to transform their body into an element of nature at will, as well as create and control it. Other than Mythical Zoan fruits, Logia fruits are the rarest Devil Fruits. Those with Logia powers can physically transform into a particular element of nature (with one exception), on top of creating said element from their body in nigh-endless quantities to control as they please. The body-transforming aspect of Logias serves to distinguish them from other Devil Fruit types. All canon Logia powers pertain to elements that are raw and naturally occurring, while behaving as they would in nature (whereas substance-creating Paramecias involve man-made materials that sometimes exhibit unnatural, esoteric properties). Logia elements may come in all major states of matter, including solids, liquids, gases and plasmas, as well as energy. Bodies transformed by a Logia ability are completely invulnerable to most attacks, as when they are hit and thus blown out of shape, they will simply reform without any damage, and seemingly automatically. There are a few ways to negate the invulnerability granted by Logia abilities and successfully injure a transformed Logia user, including the standard Devil Fruit weaknesses to seawater and Seastone which prevent the user from accessing their Devil Fruit abilities. All Logia fruits also have a weakness to Busoshoku Haki, as they can be injured by an opponent using this Haki. Certain Logia fruits also have individual weaknesses, which reflect the element's natural vulnerabilities. In order to generate their substance, a Logia user must first transform part of their body into the substance, which then multiplies as they please; this differs from substance-generating Paramecia users, most of whom can generate substances directly from their physical body or even from thin air. As long as the reproducing substance is attached to the user's body, it is considered part of their body, though it appears that this is no longer the case once the user splits it off. If they encounter their substance in nature, a Logia user can merge with it, and the natural substance will become part of their body as well.
