"Sovereign of Blight" Caribert Lysandre is the Empyrean of the Ars Goetia. A pirate by circumstance, and yet a scientist by heart, Lysandre's utterly unethical disposition and desire to do anything to further his research has led him to torture and experiment on not only others, but also himself. Ultimately, all his acts are aimed at one goal and one goal only: the discovery of the secret behind the creation of life itself. His Goetic Legions are a result of his incessant experiments on the matter, but not one has gotten close to becoming his envisioned ultimate lifeform.
With the recent reduction in number of the Shichibukai, Lysandre has thrown his hat in the ring in hopes of obtaining the position himself.
For his brutal experiments and callous disregard for the lives of the populace of entire islands, Lysandre has a Bounty of 
272,000,000 hanging on his head.
Appearance[]
Courtesy of the many experiments conducted on even himself, Lysandre's appearance is human and yet utterly alien. He is abnormally tall, his skin is deadly pale, his hair is white as snow and his eyes are a glimmering red, with a pitch-black sclera and slitted pupils.
He dons a dark coat over a red gilet, under which he dons an ashen grey sweater. He has dark pants and brown shoes, and carries a dark brown cane with golden accents,

Personality and Relationships[]
Projecting an air of calm affability, Lysandre is, at first glance, a relaxed and responsible individual who enjoys the little things in life, such as drinking tea, creating reports of his many findings, and engaging in idle chit-chat with his subordinates of the Ars Goetia. A creature of habit, he enjoys having a scheduled day and fine-tunes every detail of his life much like a clockmaker would adjust the hands of his creations.
This affability remains even as Lysandre commits himself to the most heinous of experiments, pushing the definition of "human" to its limits routinely while maintaining a calm smile. He is, or has grown, utterly insensitive to the plight of his test subjects, calmly writing them off as numbers on a piece of paper even as their bodies fall apart. As long as they are valuable for the experiment at hand, no one is spared from his experiments, as he believes that all the sacrifice they have undergone will be worth it once he discovers the true nature of existence. Much like his day and his body, Lysandre seeks to fine-tune life itself and bring out some perceived "true potential" he feels has not been tapped into yet. He despises all forms of cybernetics, and deems direct manipulation of one's biological form to be the preferable and superior option. Nonetheless, despite his lack of qualms about his experiments, Lysandre does still hold some form of scientific ethic, unhesitatingly subjecting himself to the same trials he would force others through if there are no fitting test subjects available.
A man who "relinquished his fears", Lysandre appears to be unable to feel terror or fright, not being afraid to defy even the Yonko - as shown by him being willing to attack the Dread King's daughter in order to obtain her as a test subject.[1][2]
Lysandre has a tendency to use French expressions in his speech, such as "Non" (No) or "quelle déception" (How disappointing).[3]
Power and Abilities[]
A seasoned and powerful criminal who is able to stand out throughout the New World's waters, Lysandre is a force not to be trifled with. As the leader of the Ars Goetia, he has authority over a numerous crew of powerful individuals, many of whom have been modified by him personally to become more than human.
Physical Abilities[]
While not one for physical exertion, Lysandre extensively modified his body to achieve feats no regular human could ever dream of. Not only are all his physical attributes enhanced, but he requires little to no sustenance and minimal sleep to survive, only needing approximately one meal a week and two hours of sleep a month, and hcan eat and digest almost every form of organic material, with only minimal regards to poisons, decomposition or other such natural phenomena. Lysandre’s wounds heal at tremendous speed, with his blood clotting and the injury becoming a scar in a matter of seconds at best and minutes at worst, and he has removed his sensibility to pain, allowing him to operate on himself through his Devil Fruit. He also slowed down his own aging drastically, appearing in his early thirties despite nearing sixty.
Bartitsu Proficiency[]
If he is forced to fight in melee without immediate access to his Devil Fruit ability, Lysandre is proficient in using his cane for self-defense, using a form of Bartitsu to keep enemies at bay until he can retreat back to a range he is more comfortable in.

Medical and Scientific Knowledge[]
As a man devoted to uncovering every last secret life has to offer, Lysandre has accumulated an incredibly wide berth of knowledge on how almost all living beings, humanoid and not, survive and operate. He is an accomplished surgeon and scientist, able to modify others as well as himself with pinpoint accuracy and skill, and is aware of how to modify one's Lineage Factor. While not specializing in it, he is also aware of the specifics of how Devil Fruits function, such as their ability to alter the Lineage Factor of whoever eats them, and what specific substance contained in Seastone (Pyrobloin) is responsible for their loss of effectiveness. Through a combination of his extensive modifications and his Devil Fruit ability, he can operate on others with tremendous speed and for absurd periods of time, essentially being a one-man surgeon team.
Devil Fruit[]

Lysandre ate the Taru Taru no Mi, a Logia-class Devil Fruit that allows him to transform, control and generate endless quantities of tar. As with all Logias, his elemental body grants him immunity to attacks not imbued with Haki, with him having trained to be able to transform based on reflex alone. Lysandre is able to adjust the tar's viscosity and shape it into tools, weapons, additional limbs, and a variety of other forms that make him a fearsome enemy in combat.[4] Through the building of pressure for his tar, caused by using his own body as a "lid", Lysandre is even able to use it as a means of quickly closing distances or dodging dangerous attacks without needing to physically change his stance or even have his feet on the ground.[5][6]
Haki[]
Lysandre is a fairly skilled Haki user, enough to hold his own in the New World's waters.
Kenbunshoku Haki[]
Lysandre is a skilled user of Kenbunshoku Haki, showing remarkable proficiency in its ability to perceive other people beyond the normal scope of his senses. He usually pairs it with his Devil Fruit ability to determine on the fly which attacks are infused with Haki or not, adjusting his strategy accordingly.
Busoshoku Haki[]
Lysandre possesses good mastery of Busoshoku Haki, combining it with his tar to increase its attack power and solidity.[7]

Past[]
At some point during the War of Empires, Lysandre unleashed some of his creations on the battlefields to test their capabilities, siding neither with the outlaws nor with the Marines. However, he would leave the scene soon after their defeat, as he deemed that they were still imperfect, opting to further improve his methods.
