CP6, commonly known as Cipher Pol Number 6, is a branch of Cipher Pol that works directly under the World Government. They are in charge of handling information regarding the World Government, Marines and Pirates.
Overview[]
On the surface, CP6 is an organization of editors for News Coo that handles the distribution and editing of its articles and the obtaining of the images used for bounty posters. In reality, CP6's main goal is the handling of information, and it's leakage via censorship, propaganda, and bribing or assassinating reporters that share too much information, all to the benefit of the Marines and World Government.
One of CP6's most important duties is the delivery of private information between World Government and Marine agencies and ensuring none of that information gets leaked to pirates or revolutionaries. They are also responsible for stopping the spread of unwanted information via the monitoring of non-affiliated World Government news agencies and Den Den Mushi signals.
If a target is deemed "too powerful" or "dangerous" for a member of CP6 to combat or kill, higher-ranking members are allowed to send those targets to CP9 for them to dispose of; this sometimes includes pirates who sell World Government secrets or leakers of high rank.
