Personality[]

Berry attaches importance to instinct, she acts according to her emotions and her desires. Despite what others may think of her, she sticks to what she believes is right. Her drive and determination make her a dominant person when confronted. She's known for her determined attitude, believing that when he wants something, she'll get it.

Despite her reserved side, Berry is known for her strong personality, with her sparkling attitude, every moment is an opportunity to discover and experience new things. She does not limit herself through her actions, daring to dream and achieve what she loves.

Regardless of her young age, she appreciates honesty and communication. Her attitude brings life to conversations, helping her appreciate her comrades. Although she has matured a little over time, Berry enjoys making her presence known, even if a part of her allows herself moments of solitude, allowing her the opportunity to meditate and find herself. Berry has a dynamic temperament and is able to adapt to almost any situation, especially during missions, training, and her work as a Marine. When faced with difficulties, she will seize the opportunity to broaden her experience and knowledge.

She is always tempted by two divergent parts: The desire to venture out, while the other needs to find her refuge, her place with others. She insists on having the attention of others, yet she wishes to free herself from them, which is why her 6 years were hell for the young Marine to be irritating and unstable. She is only looking for her place among the others, who to this day, will still not fill in her loneliness despite the many interactions with the division in which she served.

Captain Jimmy[]

Captain Jimmy is the one who gave Berry her very first training when she joined the Marine. Unfortunately, their professional relationship was not harmonious due to the simple fact that Captain Jimmy spat on Berry while Berry was content to ignore his orders or, most of the time, to play tricks on him. For example, Berry was able to surprise her Captain Jimmy by hitting her superior in the face with a giant fish or stealing a pack of cigarettes from the Marine's coat pocket before easily fleeing. Their relationship came to nothing despite the attempts at solutions imposed by the captain, Berry only did what she wanted, distancing herself from the other Marine soldiers. Berry never knew how to give her trust to Jimmy, nor him for that matter, which led to pitiful arguments and even punishments that Berry would suffer over time. A punishment that was not very classic, which would leave a mark on Berry's mind.

Captain Bluto Harold[]

Family[]

Michel, Rose and Cherry[]

Berry had a tumultuous relationship with her parents, which has deteriorated since Cherry's birth. With Berry no longer having her parents' attention, they were busy cherishing their second, most angelic child they had ever known. While Berry's parents had experienced misery with her, crying, tantrums and whims when she was just a baby. She was a child born from an unintentional pregnancy. This is why her mother and father had difficulty having a connection with Berry. Simply giving her love reminded them that this was not a wanted child.

Berry knew it and felt it towards her parents. Berry only had Cherry left to cherish or... hate. She had decided to love her and consider her as her little sister, it was only the parents' fault for not having been responsible. However, the parents did everything to make Berry spend less time with Cherry, they declared her to be a bad influence on Cherry. Berry was above all a turbulent and mischievous child, she spent most of her time in the perilous neighbourhoods. But that didn't make her any less protective of her little sister and against her parents.

Adventurous and intrepid, she spent most of her time running away from home following numerous arguments with her parents. Which led her to enlist in the Marine, by force. Berry's parents no longer knew how to educate the young girl, it was their only solution that she be educated. Having had difficulty adapting to a new environment, Berry regularly contacted her little sister and her parents through letters that she posted. But she never heard back from their family. As time progressed, she mailed fewer letters, mourning their family and ignoring their many letters. It was only at the age of 15 that she stopped communicating with them.

Powers and Abilities[]

Physical Abilities[]

Berry possesses greater strength than normal Marines and many people. She trained every day to improve the muscles of her body, and this with an increasingly heavy weight, going from weights of althea to immense boats and until the sea, the water was that whose density was greater and allowed one to perfect one's brute force against the pressure of the water. To this day, Berry has continued to seek to perfect raw strength, as naturally as possible to avoid the unnecessary use of Bushoshoku Haki, a technique that could lead to intense tiredness.

Berry has excellent resistance to torture thanks to the numerous punishments, she suffered for having done such antics going so far as to annoy the highest superior in the Marine. Berry just did what she wanted and didn't learn her lessons after being punished. Nothing shook her and only strengthened her iron mind, being a person detached from emotions to protect herself, she especially liked to surpass herself and take on challenges brilliantly. The Marine had seen her potential for resistance and continued to intimidate her by putting her to the test at the slightest mistake or antics on Berry's part. Which never got her arrested, Berry actually had nowhere to find refuge, being bullied was actually normal in Berry's eyes, having grown up in an unhealthy environment. Berry vaguely possessed Soru (superhuman speed) and Geppo (jumping), but she never sought to perfect her speed until a teacher helped her

Being a big fan of the sea, she spent most of her life diving in the ocean. This allowed Berry to practice long-term freediving, finding the interior of the sea peaceful, which provided good breathing practice. Now, today, she can hold her breath underwater for 15 minutes and no more. This allows Berry to take advantage of her deeper diving, one of the rare abilities she possesses and she is proud of that. A talent that can save many drownings during marine missions related to work of the Marine.

Fighting Style[]

First of all, her fighting style is mainly focused on close-quarters hand-to-hand as it could be at range. The Eel Whip is a secondary weapon that she owns and uses daily during fierce battles, which explains her brutal and merciless style. Berry is a resourceful and above all ingenious woman, she can use her whip both offensively and defensively. By either using it as a means of pulling an opponent into range or deflecting attacks, to whip on the body of the enemy finally bring him back towards her to knock him out with a punch or even strike with the pommel of the Eel Murray, containing sea stone. With Berry, there is no shortage of ideas.

Her style of hand-to-hand combat is much closer to that of street fighting, having grown up in an environment where there was no shortage of trouble. She therefore has an unpredictable, fast and wild fighting style, a skill that she will treasure during her training in the Marine.

During her time in the Marine, Berry saw herself improving her raw strength. As mentioned above, she could easily lift a large man, pull a rope attached to an enemy boat, lift stones or even make a chasm and separate a battlefield into a thousand and one pieces. A skill she rigorously takes care of, as men easily made fun of women as being weak. This is why Berry proves to them that they are wrong.

Techniques[]

  • Limpet Stroke (笠貝一打{{{2}}} Kasagai Ichida?): A technique that involves containing all of one's superhuman strength in a single punch, it relies on several degrees of strength, a strength that Berry can choose to take.
  • Murray Eel ({{{2}}} Utsubo?): A technique which involves striking using the Murray Eel pommel, an extremely strong pommel made of sea stone material. The pommel is carved like a Murray Eel fish, demonstrating an ornate mouth point and studded with several sharp teeth. Additionally, it has eyes on her pommel head, strongly demonstrating her great love for the sea. This technique is very useful against devil fruit users, allowing them to be blocked and weakened by the force of sea stones.
  • Water Mill (水車小屋 {{{2}}} Suishagoya?): A technique which consists of spinning her whip in front of her at a very rapid speed and finally blocking bullets or blows
  • Wrath of the Kraken (蛸怪物クラーケン Kurāken no Ikari?, literally meaning "Wrath of the Octopus Monster): It has the power to destroy hills in the same way as a Kraken would swallow up boats at the bottom of the ocean.

Past[]

As a kid, Berry was always looked down on by others, for her strength and strong personality. She was especially picked on by people older than her, who usually beat her up and steal her money. However, Berry often managed to escape her bullies, by hiding where they couldn’t go and doing things they would never do, like jumping off the roof of a house to escape.

Berry started to feel abandoned by her family too when her little sister Cherry was born, as soon enough her parents started to not pay attention to her anymore, which is why Berry spent her time outside instead of staying with them. Whether at home where she’s neglected or outside where she fights and runs, Berry’s personality and behaviour only got more disrespectful. Crises, disputes and many runaways led to her loss: Berry’s parents forced her to enlist in the Marine to teach her some manners and respect, she was 12 at the time.

For the next three years, Berry was disciplined and trained by Captain Jimmy of the Marine. It was difficult for him to try to educate her because she was a problem child. She spent her time annoying Captain Jimmy, pranking and mocking him. This terrible attitude earned her the nickname Blue Devil, although people would have expected her to be nicknamed along with her strength.

On the island of GoldFish, red poppies, a symbol of beauty and solace, bloom every November, bringing a bit of color to the spooky town of Silvedust. This industrial city, known for its bad reputation and dilapidated buildings, is brightened up by the fragile but persistent presence of these flowers. Silvedust is home to Berry, a blue-haired girl growing up among fishermen and soldiers. Despite her efforts to contact her family, Berry remains unanswered, causing her deep sadness and feelings of loneliness. She finds comfort in the sea and the poppies, symbols of her resilience.

Berry, a young girl with blue hair, spends her time at the quay of Goquay surrounded by fishermen and soldiers. She had written a letter to her family, wondering why they weren't responding to her. Desperate, she crumples the letter and whispers to a poppy flower that she must move forward alone with the Marine, her only family from now on. Three boys, Pier, George and Trevor, watch her from afar, ready to intimidate her. Berry is approached by Pier, George, and Trevor, who make fun of her. Pier, driven by growing arrogance, provokes Berry, while George and Trevor join in, taunting and abusing Berry.

Faced with their aggression, Berry, although injured, responds with determination. Pier, furious, attacks with brass knuckles. Berry, despite the pain, manages to dodge the blows and retaliates with a series of powerful blows, including a left hook and a punch to the stomach. Pier is surprised by the counterattack and loses his balance, falling into the water. George and Trevor, seeing their comrade in difficulty, intervene by kicking Berry. However, Berry fights them off with resilience, sending Trevor into the water with a vigorous kick. George, frightened, decides to flee quickly. Eventually, Pier and Trevor find themselves in the water, unable to continue the fight. Berry, victorious, laughs at their loss. As the situation appears to calm down, Berry is confronted by Captain Jimmy, who berates her for ignoring her responsibilities and fighting off-duty.[1]

Bluto stood on the balcony of Captain Jimmy's office, looking at the waves of Goquay with contempt. He had been sent to reinforce the bases and train recruits and mocked the weak facilities, notably the Greenthum base which he considered useless. His reputation as a ruthless captain was well-established. When Jimmy arrived, soaked and reeking of rotten fish from a trick played by Berry, Bluto couldn't hide his disgust. Berry, with blue hair, had in fact thrown a bucket of rotten fish at Jimmy, creating a strong smell of decomposition. Berry laughed at the situation with a playful attitude, pinching her nose and sticking out her tongue.

Bluto, irritated, blamed Jimmy for his inability to handle Berry, whom he called insubordinate. He demanded that Berry introduce herself properly, which she did with a casual attitude. Despite the incongruity of the situation, Jimmy finally left the office to allow the two to have a deeper discussion. Bluto asked Berry to become his student. In exchange, she had to swear loyalty to him and accept rigorous training. Berry, determined to escape Jimmy's presence, accepted Bluto's offer. She was excited by the opportunity to learn and hoped the training would change her life. Bluto, although skeptical of Berry's potential, was willing to train her, seeing her as a recruit in need of discipline but with the potential to be exploited.[2]

Suddenly, creatures with yellow eyes appear, spreading terror before the marines have time to react. Returning to their base, Captain Bluto receives direct instructions from Fleet Admiral Kyojin, who reminds him of the seriousness of the mission. Bluto, despite the admonitions, remains determined to protect his men while eliminating the pirate threat.

Meanwhile, Berry, with her mischievous and casual attitude, often provokes her new comrades, notably Sam and Soldrum. These moments of friction reveal each person’s character and motivations. Sam aspires to glory, Soldrum is confident in his strength, and Dave, although nervous, possesses valuable power thanks to his Devil Fruit. Bluto emphasizes the importance of cooperation and preparation, urging his team to come up with a plan of attack. Discussions become heated, especially between Berry and Sam, but the captain reminds everyone of the need for unity and strategy to carry out this dangerous mission. The upcoming mission will test Berry and her comrades' ability to work together and overcome their differences to take on the pirates and solve the mystery of the other team's disappearance.[3]

Past Hunt[]

Further information: Past Hunt

Berry, the Commodore of the Marine, was heading to Love Island with her soldiers after receiving important information from Cipher Pol. Known for its peace and love, Love Island attracted many visitors and was known for turning any negativity into joy. However, this time the Marine had a serious mission: to capture or kill Silco, a former member of a Yonko known for his human trafficking activities and his ability to seduce. Arriving on the island, the blue-haired Berry was greeted by the hospitality of the locals. Offering donuts and drinks, the locals seemed overly friendly and even Berry's soldiers were distracted by the generosity. Berry remained suspicious and continued her research by asking questions about Silco, all while sipping a good hot beverage. An old man, tending the purple tulips omnipresent on the island, explained to Berry the story of the Great Bloom. This magical flowering, which occurred a year ago, had transformed the island into a place of happiness and love, eliminating all negativity thanks to the Heart tulips. Suddenly, a scream interrupts the conversation: a mysterious man, wearing a mask and gloves, runs down the street with a heart-shaped pot of tulips, shouting hateful words. After throwing the tulips into a manhole cover and disappearing underground, the residents resumed their routine as if nothing had happened. The old man mentions that this man is known as Grumpy Dave and that the tulips will need to be replaced. Berry, shocked by the nonchalance of the residents and Dave's behavior, decides to follow him. She goes down into the sewer, finds the place disgusting, and continues looking for Dave while protecting herself from the bad smell with her jacket.[4]

Berry finds herself immersed in a surreal scene when she discovers part of the sewers transformed into an ordinary living space. At the center of this strange room, the man in the gas mask, identified as Grouchy Dave, is absorbed in his scientific experiments on mysterious flowers. Berry, suspicious, enters the room and asks Dave about his research. Surprised and annoyed by her intrusion, Dave spills a chemical on his table and turns to her angrily. Berry, confused and uncomfortable, tries to cover up her ignorance of science by discussing the infection Dave claimed she had. Dave, undaunted, administers Berry a white pill which causes a gag reflex. As she vomits, Dave explains that this pill is supposed to rid her of the infection caused by the flowers. After taking another medication to counter the effects of the first pill, Berry, still shaken, asks for an explanation. Dave reveals that he is determined to destroy the flower curse that has ruined his business. According to him, these flowers were introduced by a mysterious head florist, who is also responsible for a series of problems on the island. He suggests that this florist might be the same as the character on the Silco poster Berry is holding. Berry, shocked by the revelation and determined to act, agrees to seek out and eliminate the head florist. Dave informs her that the latter is hiding in a greenhouse in the north of the island. Berry, ready to take on this challenge, prepares to leave, convinced that this is her chance to end this threat once and for all.[5]

Berry, the Marine, has found the last clue to locate his target and is heading towards the north of the island. Ignoring the infected inhabitants, she follows a rocky path through the forest to a large greenhouse in the middle of a field of purple flowers. There she meets Silvus Constantin, a gardener with light gray hair, who is surprised by her presence. Berry engages Silvus in conversation and discovers a unique flower with colours reminiscent of her own hair. Silvus, blushing, offers to see the interior of the greenhouse, where Berry admires strange plants and discovers a blue-silver flower which he gives to her as a souvenir. Their exchange becomes more serious when Berry questions Silvus about his motivations. He explains that he grows flowers to bring peace and love to the island, contrasting with Berry's vision who accuses him of using flowers to manipulate people. Silvus reveals himself to be Silco, a character with controversial intentions. A confrontation breaks out between Berry and Silco, who accuses the Marine of not really caring about injustices and blindly following orders. Berry, outraged by the accusations and determined, prepares to confront Silco and his creatures while asserting her desire to change things from her position in the Marine. Berry, confronted by Silco, is surprised by his reaction after the attack she launched against him. Silco, imperturbable despite the violence of their confrontation, shows great determination and rage in the face of the Marines and the system he abhors. He reveals his disdain for the Marines and the would-be gods whom he considers tyrants, and he explains his desire not to surrender. His arm, which has become a formidable weapon thanks to his "Parasite Boost" technique, attacks Berry with destructive force. Berry, agile, manages to dodge Silco's initial attacks, but is disrupted by the unexpected appearance of parasitic creatures that attack. She suffers several injuries and is forced to reevaluate her actions and motivations. Silco, furious at seeing his work destroyed, is even more ruthless. However, despite his anger, he begins to question Berry's true intentions and the Marine justice system.

The conversation between Berry and Silco reveals the complexity of their motivations. Silco explains that he acts to protect citizens from tyranny and that he lost his family to pirates. Berry, touched by his words and realizing the ineffectiveness of the system she defends, finds herself prey to doubts and remorse. She begins to understand the difficulty of changing such a corrupt system and feels guilty for the destruction she has caused. Silco, seeing Berry's distress, ultimately decides to help her by healing his wounds and saving a precious blue flower from the destroyed greenhouse when she searches for it. He expresses regret for misjudging Berry and explains that someone, Grumpy Dave, tried to sabotage his efforts by sending parasites. Berry remembers this detail and understands the situation. Silco offers a deal: he asks Berry to preserve the flowers and let him go in exchange for not reporting him to the world government. Berry, recognizing the importance of this last request, agrees. Silco disappears, leaving Berry with a new perspective on her own choices and the impact of her actions.[6]

She rushes to stop the nefarious plans of Dave, an individual who set fire to a field of flowers with a special device. The flowers burn in a strange green flame, killing the pests inside. Berry recognizes Dave's voice and runs towards him angrily, confronting him with her whip. She manages to take his flamethrower away from him, while Dave, surprised and frightened, tries to justify himself. Berry calls him a psychopath and breaks his flamethrower with her hands, then forcefully handcuffs him. As Dave tries to defend himself by playing the victim, Silco appears and reveals that he sent a special parasite up Dave's nose to make him forget his actions and believe it is him. Berry, disgusted and amused by the situation, mocks Silco and begins dressing Dave in Silco's clothes. Silco, frustrated by the destruction caused by Dave, teases Berry with an unflattering nickname, the Blue Gorilla. Berry gets angry, but Silco explains that the parasite will make Dave think he is Silco. Then, they pretend to groom Dave for a new identity before Berry orders her soldiers to focus on putting out the fires. Silco, the gardener whose greenhouse was damaged, is finally found by Berry. Despite his initial displeasure, he accepts Berry's help in repairing the damage, and they share a moment of friendship. Berry invites Silco to join the victory celebration, promising him a good time. The gardener, although hesitant, finally accepts under certain conditions. The celebration on the dock marks the end of this adventure, strengthening the bond between Berry and Silco.[7]
