Basilisk is Dampier Morgan's weapon and partner. The ancestral sword of House Dampier, it "ate" the Hebi Hebi no Mi, Model: Monocled Cobra and gained sentience a long time ago, being passed down across multiple generations. He follows his current master with undying loyalty, being his first and most loyal friend and companion.
Basilisk also counts among the Meito, being ranked as a Wazamono Grade Sword.
Appearance[]
In his sword form, Basilisk is an ornate two-edged sword with a gold and burgundy cross-shaped guard and handle, with a burgundy sheathe. On his blade, there is an inscription reading "Vi Veri uniVersum Vivus Vici" (Latin for "By the power of truth I, by living, have conquered the universe)
In his beast form, he is a snake with azure scales and a white belly, with piercing light blue eyes.
When in his hybrid form, Basilisk's head turns into the sword's guard, with the blade sprouting from it. Its pommel transforms into his tail, with the center of his body remaining in the form of the handle.
Personality and Relationships[]
Basilisk is proud and elegant, acting haughty and arrogant. He has an undying loyalty to Morgan and will always stay at his side, fighting with him in perfect sync and even imitating some of his mannerisms.[1] Their bond is so strong that, despite Basilisk being unable to speak in a traditional manner, Morgan is able to effortlessly understand what he means and act as if they were having a normal conversation.[2] They were close since Morgan's childhood, bonding extremely swiftly despite the sword being several decades his senior, and Basilisk following him into piracy speaks volumes to the sheer depths of his loyalty, and their friendship.
As a sword who ate a Snake Devil Fruit, Basilisk still identifies himself primarily by his original form, thinking of himself as a sword over a snake. As a consequence of this, he can get fairly envious when Morgan starts using his gun in tanded with him, constantly trying to one-up his non-sentient "Rival" and treating it as if it was alive.
Powers and Abilities[]
Basilisk, in his full-Beast form specifically, is remarkably stealthy and can easily hide his presence, concealing himself even under items like a chef's hat with minimal difficulty.[3] While incapable of speech, he often uses his tail to draw in the air or on any surface soft enough as a form of communication, showing remarkable intelligence.
When in sword form, he is well-balanced, sharp and resilient, fittingly for a Meito. In the hands of his chosen wielder, Basilisk becomes especially deadly, as him and Morgan fight in perfect sync, as if they were one being.
Devil Fruit[]

Basilisk "ate" the Hebi Hebi no Mi, Model: Monocled Cobra, a Zoan-Class Devil Fruit that allows him to assume the form of a Monocled Cobra. He obtains sentience, as well as all the abilities of his animal - first and foremost, its venom, which he can lace his blade with when in his hybrid form, and spit at his enemies when in his full-beast form. The Monocled Cobra's venom causes drowsiness, paralysis and, if left untreated or in the case of high exposure, even death by respiratory failure.
When in his hybrid form, Basilisk can be used as a makeshift grappling hook, whip, or kusarigama, granting Morgan the ability to more easily control the flow of battle from close and medium range with his sword, and from longer ranges with his gun.
History[]
Basilisk served as the ceremonial blade of House Dampier for centuries, even before their terrible sin. At some point, he was granted sentience via the "consumption" of the Hebi Hebi no Mi, Model: Monocled Cobra. He has been passed down through the generations to each scion of House Dampier whom he deemed worthy.
Most recently, Basilisk chose Dampier Morgan as his wielder, forging a relationship of deep friendship with him that dates back to the young man's childhood. When Morgan decided to become a pirate and founded the Noblesse Pirates, Basilisk unhesitatingly chose to follow him, thus leaving Teluris for the first time in his history.
Trivia[]
- Basilisk's name was inspired by the basilisk, a large mythological snake so venomous it left a trail of toxin in its wake.
- In various media, the basilisk is depicted as having the ability to petrify others. While this does fit with the paralyzing effect of Basilisk's venom, the Monocled Cobra's venom actually causes flaccid paralysis.
