Azaad is the the commander of the G Army, which covers the Grand Line. A former slave and test subject of the World Nobles, with him being trained to join CP9, he was rescued while on a transport ship, to his new owners by the Revolutionary Army. Azaad rose through the ranks starting out as a member of the G-Army, due to him living in Paradise before he was captured.

Appearance[]

Azaad is a young and lean dark-skinned man with sharp, slated orange eyes and short eyebrows. Being a Lunarian, he has his race's telltale features; large, black-feather wings on his back that reach down to his legs, his brown complexion, and silver-white buzzcut hair.

Azaad is noted to have a strong, masculine aura and is called a "Predator" by the other members of his army due to his fierce appearance.

Azaad's outfit consists of a Copper Penny long sleeve dress shirt, that he keeps buttoned up, leaving the top button open to reveal parts of his neck, raisen black dress pants and dress shoes with suspenders, with a blue sash wrapped around his waist.

Personality[]

From a young age, Azaad has consistently projected an aura of calmness and deep thought, often emanating an enigmatic presence. His demeanor is typically described as collected and reserved, rarely showing signs of affection or amusement. Azaad is known to hold onto grudges and can appear intimidating. However, despite these unique traits, Azaad is not opposed to sharing a smile with others, indicating a certain level of self-awareness about his behavior.

He doesn't shy away from issuing threats when he feels provoked. In fact, he has openly directed threats towards his deputy commander, Shih D. Ching, multiple times as a result of their conflicting personalities. Although he occasionally clashes with Ching due to their differing personas, Azaad has a deep sense of camaraderie with his teammates and allies.

Azaad's fascination with insects serves to reinforce his perspective. He devotes much of his free time to observing them and frequently draws comparisons to insects in conversation. As a result, others have labeled Azaad as "creepy" and tend to avoid spending extended periods of time in his company.

Deep down, Azaad possesses immense bravery. When he attempted to escape from his island and faced capture, he fearlessly confronted the Vice Admiral sent to capture him. Azaad was determined to use every resource at his disposal to fight for his life if necessary. He also demonstrated a keen understanding of his army and even the inner workings of other commanders, the chief of staff, and supreme commander. Azaad was able to sense when something was amiss with them, even the slightest of things.

Azaad's way of speaking has been described by many as "nitpicking," as he tends to use the word 'because' frequently. Some people find his manner of speaking to be overly focused on trivial details and unnecessary explanations, which can leave listeners feeling like their questions have already been addressed before they even have a chance to ask them.

Azaad exudes a strong sense of confidence in his skills and often makes it known to his opponents, perhaps out of concern for their own welfare. On the other hand, Azaad takes pleasure in combat and is displeased when deprived of the opportunity to face a formidable adversary.

Past[]

In the first decade of Azaad's life, he resided in a concealed village inhabited by Lunarians. Despite widespread belief in their extinction, the village Elder hinted at the existence of other hidden communities. The decision to remain concealed was made in order to safeguard their existence and to eventually strengthen their population once again.

As they felt secure within the confines of their village, a devastating attack was launched, and a Buster Call was initiated to wipe out all inhabitants. Azaad, along with several other young villagers, was forcibly separated and dispersed in various directions to evade capture. During his attempt to flee, Azaad found himself ensnared in a net and subsequently apprehended. Recognizing his exceptional abilities, the Marines decided to send him to the CP9 homeland for rigorous conditioning and training, with the ultimate goal of serving the World Government.

He was brought up in an environment that emphasized the suppression of individuality, personal relationships, and even the use of a personal name. Instead, he was assigned the name "Alpha" and subjected to rigorous training. During this intense training, Azaad gradually lost his sense of self, ultimately forgetting his own given name. Despite successfully molding him into a highly effective weapon, Azaad managed to preserve his unique personality and his deep affection for insects. Zeta, an older recruit from the Avian Tribe, stumbled upon Azaad engrossed in the study of insects and recognized his natural talent. Over time, the two developed a close bond, united by their shared possession of jet-black wings.

Azaad developed a strong bond with Zeta, viewing him as an older brother figure and gradually coming to admire him. Tragically, Zeta met his demise while attempting to establish communication with the Revolutionary Army. Unbeknownst to Azaad, Zeta had been operating as a double agent for the Revolutionary Army. In an effort to preserve the integrity of their latest weapon, CP9 took measures to suppress the majority of Azaad's memories related to Zeta, ensuring that they would not interfere with his training and loyalty.

Before Azaad embarked on his inaugural mission as a CP9 Agent at the tender age of 14, he received a remarkable gift in the form of the Bazu Bazu no Mi. This devil fruit was bestowed upon him due to his extensive knowledge of insects, as it was believed that he would wield its powers adeptly. It's worth noting that Azaad's rescue by the Revolutionary Army was a pivotal moment in his life, and he was deeply grateful for this opportunity, as it presented a means for him to seek retribution for his "brother."

After being rescued, he join the G-Army, Azaad swiftly ascended the ranks and ultimately assumed the role of Deputy Commander under the guidance of Daruma, a towering Half Giant. Azaad owes his transformation and salvation to Daruma, who not only stripped him of his former title "Alpha" but also bestowed upon him the name Azaad. Over time, Azaad came to regard Daruma as a surrogate father, relying on him for guidance in his journey towards redemption and in their shared mission to overthrow the World Government. Following Daruma's demise, Azaad's grief and rage nearly drove him to decimate an entire island of Marines during a failed mission. However, he managed to restrain himself upon realizing the dire consequences his actions would inflict on the innocent inhabitants of the island.
