Artemis D. Jane is captain of the Archive Pirates a Tengu Tribe and Stargazer Tribe hybrid woman from Paradise who is researching the history of the world, wanting to uncover the truth behind a mystery so profound that it resulted in the destruction of everyone she knew and loved. Planning to collect all written texts in the world, ensuring that no one has to endure the pain of having their history erased.

Appearance[]

A tall woman with light brown skin and long white hair, she possesses large, powerful wings reminiscent of the Blakiston's fish owl, specially adapted for swimming due to her deep-sea archaeology hobby. Recently, she has chosen to wear a gothic western outfit. Additionally, she has a burn scar on the left side of her face and striking purple eyes, which occasionally display the constellation of the owl. At times, she disguises[1] herself by dyeing her hair and wings with a custom dye she created herself.

Personality[]

A selfish woman driven by an insatiable thirst for knowledge, she was scarred by the loss of her homeland due to the betrayal of a man she once revered as her master. This betrayal shattered her trust in anyone holding authority over her or associated with world governments. Despite her reluctance to trust, she uses her charm and flirtation as tools to manipulate others, relishing the sense of control it gives her. Her three primary motivators are book, money, and knowledge. Although she can no longer taste wine, she possesses a unique ability to discern subtle changes in its flavor, allowing her to maintain her connection to the world of wine despite her inability to enjoy it.

Relationships[]

Artemis D. Samantha[]

She loves her sister but also knows that the path she has taken puts her at odds with her. However, she also refuses to be taken in by anyone other than Artemis D. Samantha [2].

Code[]

She sees Code as protection, knowing that she can count on him to get her out of any situation whenever she needs it.

Soldrum[]

She's grateful to Soldrum for showing her what the rest of Paradise is like and where she stands with it; she was heartbroken by his death.

Baji[]

As far as she's concerned, she did her part, so Baji owes her a favor—either willingly or at gunpoint; she's fine either way.

Enzo[]

She thinks Leone Enzo is cute but would never tell him that. Aside from his looks, she believes he is trustworthy enough to be her right hand.

Ronan[]

She thinks Ronan is mean, but she appreciates that he gave her a better insight into the martial arts world. However, she feels he hits too hard for someone of his height. She does respect that he can shit talk and back it up how ever

Powers & Abilities[]

Overview[]

Artemis D. Jane possesses exceptional speed in flight. However, she lacks overwhelming power and relies heavily on strategy during combat. Her ability to hold her breath for extended periods allows her to swim deeper underwater, aided by her wings, which enhance her swimming speed and power. Additionally, Jane exhibits remarkable hand grip strength, enabling her to cling to boats from beneath as they sail across the sea. Her wings are indeed very powerful but like owls her wings are also quiet when mixing through the air never making around with even the strongest flap making them increadable sneak attack weapons alig eith the sharpness of her feathers making amazing blades.

Dials Shes keeps an assortment of Dials to use on her ant any given time but mainly using an Impact Dial, and Flame Dial.

She has modified her Breath Dial mask to filter out certain gases in the air for later use, as well as to smash rock, metal, and Sea Kings underwater with powerful gusts of air. Additionally, she carries a collapsible metal bow staff, which she has gained proficiency with for self-defense in combat. Her other weapon is a glove with talon-like blades for aggressive attacks and climbing. Jane also utilizes a modified Breath Dial for deep-sea diving and breathing in areas with poor air quality. She has acquired a few weapons and skills, including dual-wielding a pair of Daos (curved broad swords with rings) that she found during an excavation in Alabasta, and a pair of high-caliber revolvers named “Revolution” and “Revelation.”

History[]

Past[]

She grew up on a world government archaeology ship, where CP9 agents protected and monitored them. Despite being the youngest of ten siblings and not the strongest physically, she was the most ambitious in her family. She pursued both archaeology and martial arts, blending her love for books and storytelling into her combat style, much to the dismay of her master, Hayatotsu, a Fishman who trained her in Fishman Karate and Rokushiki techniques. While she dabbled in various martial arts, she focused primarily on Rankyaku, Soru, and Geppo. During a deep-sea dive in an abandoned castle, she stumbled upon a book from the Void Century. Unaware of its significance, she brought it back to the ship, unknowingly alerting Hayatotsu, who reported it to the World Government. Chaos ensued as CP agents, once considered allies, turned on them, resulting in the massacre of the researchers. With the help of Jane and Hayatotsu, she managed to escape, frantically gathering as much research as possible before being attacked by Hayatotsu himself. In a desperate bid for survival and revenge, she locked Hayatotsu in the ship’s engine room before detonating it, sacrificing the research in the process. Washed ashore on Little Garden, she awoke alone, consumed by a burning desire for vengeance.

Not showing up for the whole situation, she was originally trying to hide and research Alabasta's history under King Baji. However, once the Marines came, Jane decided to lend a hand to Baji. Win or lose, she could use her connection to him to benefit her later down the line. After the war, however, she met up with Code, having left clues to her whereabouts in a book she purposefully planted with birds headed to Screen News base. Once meeting him, she was able to start a deal with him, claiming she'd be doing something big soon and he’d be the first to report on it.

Battle For Knowledge[]

After the war in Alabasta, Sam lay low before attempting to retrieve an item of interest she had collected from the region. She decided the best way to move the heavy artifacts was to do so in plain sight. To facilitate this, she forged a letter stating that the artifacts were to be moved to a Marine base and hid among the Marines, disguised for five days. However, on the first day, she realized that one of the objects, a vase, contained translations for Poneglyphs and decided to grab that vase sooner rather than wait for the rest of the items. On the fifth day, Jane was discovered by Commodore Soldrum and engaged him in a fierce battle. Initially, she resorted to trickery during their first encounter, distracting him with a fake bomb in the cafeteria, knowing he would rush to protect his men. The only real threat was the delicious chocolate cake, but the Commodore didn’t find the joke amusing. As Jane was writing down the translations in a book she kept, Soldrum found her, and they prepared for a second round of combat. Ordinary Jane tried to flee, but Soldrum taunted her, saying, “She’s not ready for the seas if she can’t face me.” This provocation ignited a determination in her to win the fight. Although the battle was closely contested, it ended in a draw, with Jane finding a way to escape instead of continuing the fight with Soldrum, hoping to face him another day. Once she reached a safe place to rest, she contacted Code to inform him about the events that transpired and officially formed an alliance with him.

Snow Fall[]

Still recovering from her battle with Soldrum, Jane ordered some weapons to prepare for future confrontations. She commissioned these weapons from Terrestrial, taking full advantage of Code being her benefactor. Disguising herself, she headed for the Drum Kingdom in order to finalize the deal. After acquiring her weapons, she presented her idea for an underground organization that she wanted to run. Afterwards, she headed down to the town below, preparing to buy clothes from the stores there. It was then that she met Leone Enzo, having followed a gut feeling that led her to him. Ultimately, she kidnapped him and decided he would be her first mate.
