Akitsushima is a Summer Island located in the Calm Belt bordering the New World and West Blue home to both the Bug-Men and Arachnoid tribes.

Geography[]
Akitsushima is a massive raised island taking the shape of a dragonfly, the coasts of the island are made up of large, sheer cliffs nearly impossible to climb without the wall crawling abilities of the two tribes that inhabit the island. Cascading waterfalls pour from these cliffs into the ocean endlessly, fresh water being supplied to the four large rivers that run across the "Wings" of the island coming from massive underground reservoirs being consistently refilled from an unknown source.
Plantlife dwarfing even the tallest of giants litter the landscape of Akitsushima with blades of grass being compareable to the regular trees of other islands while Akitsushima's trees stretch high into the sky leaving much of the island in the dark under their large canopies. It is in these dark recesses that the tribes of this land thrive in vast numbers. High in the tree tops, in small villages on the ground, and in large networks of tunnels below the soil, the insects and arachnids of Akitsushima live and survive in this enviornment with their long list of skills and abilities.
Though the Island is classified as a Summer Island, Atsuhima his home to multiple climates. The Dense, thick, jungles that line the coast along the edges of the cliffs are hot and humid, seeing rainfall in some form or another througout the majority of the year. Like the cliffs, the dangerous and difficult to navigate jungles of Akitsushima grand the island a natural protection from those who might seek to harm or invade the island.
Hidden within the thick jungles are the lush, temperate forests. With milder temperatures and less rain, the majority of its surface towns and villages can be found within this region.
In the center of the island, sometimes referred to as "The Thorax", the capital city of Mushimura can be found. The large capital city is the hub of travel and trade on the island, home to the royal palace in which the Hashira rule. Hundreds of thousands of citizens find themsleves within the city every single day as passing through it is required to go from one side of the island to the other without a ship to sail from shore to shore. A natural choke point, its high walls and thick gates make it an easily defendable position should the island ever be invaded.
Though many citizens of Akitsushima live in moist, dark tunnels beneath the ground, it should be noted that among the many maze-like tunnel structures the ones that make up the subterrainian portions of Mushimura are in a class all their own. A complex web of thousands of miles of tunnels lie beneath the city, serving the function of living and work spaces for those who call the city home.
Residents across the islands living in these tunnel cities are not left completely in the dark as one might expect however just South of Mushimura along the thinest stretch of the island is what the residents refer to as Himawarida or "Sunflower field" where the natural solar energy is captured by giant sunflowers, this energy is harnessed by the people of Akitsushima to provide power to everyone on the island.

The Hashira, also known as the Pillars of Akitsushima are made up of the members of both tribe's royal families. Brought together through political marriage following the Swarm wars. This new form of government under the protection of the Scourge Pirates seeks to protect the rights and livelihood of both tribes under their jurisdiction.
