Bastard's Quest[]

Elbaf, May 5 th 1620

Thrymr sat upon his throne. It was a simple, peaceful day within his kingdom. There were no foreign pirates attacking and no widespread illnesses killing. His people toiled about, knowing their safety was guaranteed by the king and his crew. His family was home, if only Queen Embla was here... perhaps the king would know full happiness again.

However, he settled on this incomplete joy as he had called upon his strangest subject. Elbaf was a haven for giants. It was the home of the Elbafian tribe, but it welcomed giants of all creeds and bloodlines, even hybrids. Many believed Thrymr to hate humanity. It was true, he had a distrust from seeing them enslave his people and a certain hybrid causing a plague. However, he did not hate humanity as a whole, and this was proven by an orphaned child that found his way to Elbaf's shores many years ago. The king, despite his distrust, could not allow an innocent orphan to be killed, so he had him hidden way in Elbaf to be raised. He only hoped the child could prove instrumental in making the rest of his race stop enslaving the mighty giants that roamed the world.

Walking down the massive halls was always a journey in of itself, although Joshua had roamed these very halls many times in his youth. He was summoned by Thrymr for a special meeting or at least that's what he thought anyway. It was only a few times a year Josh would be summoned to the great palace of giants, and every time felt surreal. I guess that's the common feeling of being one of the only humans inhabiting the island.

Tap Tap Tap

Joshua's heavy boot heels echoed through the large chamber halls as he approached the doors to the throne room. The entire hall dwarfed him in comparison looking like an ant among men, everything on Elbaf was larger, the people, the buildings, the food, and even the throne doors. He would have to leap as high as he could to reach the door handles but there was no need for that.

The doors were guarded by two large giant soldiers dressed in Elbafian armor and decor, "Evening gents, I'm here to see the king, " he shouted from below cupping his hands around his mouth to amplify his voice. The guards peered down at the little human through their helmets and then looked at each other.

"..."

The large guards would step to the side and open the large doors swinging them inwards toward the throne room.

"Cheers," Joshua said tipping his golden winged helmet. He continued into the throne room towards the large seat that stood before and sitting upon it was none other than the king himself.

"Uncle Thrymr! How are you, it's always a pleasure!" Joshua then sat on a little throne placed in front of the king and took a seat.

The giant king maintained a straight face as he looked upon Joshua, hoping to not smile. The king was known for being solemn, but he was not heartless. He loved both of his children, thought well of his niece, and more or less considered Norn his family as well. He did look upon Joshua fondly, but it was hidden behind the lord's stoic appearance.

Raising from his throne, Thrymr towered over the mere human before him. "Joshua, I hope all is well." The king looked upon Joshua with some level of fondness. Those who did not truly know him would warn Joshua to run, that the human hating giant would consume him - Thrymr thought little of such senseless rumors. He used his pointer finger and thumb to gingerly pick up a small book, one that was really made more the likes of Joshua.

"I have called upon you for a reason, child. On this day, I grant you a mission for the glory of my kingdom and for your place within it," Thrymr said as he dropped the book before Joshua. It was a Devil Fruit Encyclopedia, and a bookmark was placed to indicate the target of Thrymr's fascination.

"A mission? What kind?" Joshua asked catching the book dropped before him. Looking at the cover he glanced at the title.

"Devil Fruit Encyclopedia," he said to himself opening the big red book and flipping to his marked page.

Placing his hand on the page, "Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Giant. A giant fruit? There isn't much in here about it besides the name. I'm assuming you need me to grab it, does that mean I get to finally leave the island?" Joshua asked with a smile.

The king nodded. "What I want is for you to find this fruit and bring it home to Elbaf. It is a fruit I have ambitions for that could serve my kingdom and those who have been hurt by humanity," Thrymr said as he looked down on Joshua. "This is a mission that will make you more than just a human in a strange land, child. This will make you honored among my kin, an honorary giant through and through."

Thrymr reclaimed his seat upon the throne, looking upon the human with good intent. "If you bring this to Elbaf, know that you will be honored among my crew with prestige and rank. I do not intend to send you off though without assistance. To cement your status, I offer a gift," the Dread King.

Pounding the butt of his spear on the ground, another door opened. Walking into the room was Heidrun Skadi, the daughter of the king and crown princess of the land. In her hand was a small chest that she gingerly placed down in front Joshua before standing at her father's side. "So the human finally gets a mission, good stuff Joshua," said the Valkyrie with a grin. She had known of his existence on the island since Thrymr entrusted him to another giant to raise, when she herself was still a youth on the crew.

"Open it, my boy."

"Princess Skadi!" Joshua's jaw dropped. Out of all the meetings he'd had with the king, it was very few times Skadi and himself had interacted. Upon being bestowed a new mission it was like a dream come true. Ever since he was younger Joshua dreamed of venturing out to the seas, taking up adventure, and becoming a pirate just like the king and his daughter.

The giants who raised him, being his adopted mother and father always told him stories of the pirate legends of old, great battles, great treasure, and even greater triumph. Even the tails of Joy Boy sparked his interest, a man who obtained the truest sense of freedom.

That is what Joshua wanted most in life. Besides finding out about his past...

As the chest was placed before him the size was large in comparison to his body, "A gift?" Joshua rose from his small throne and stood before the chest. With his two hands the human began to open the chest, the wooden compartment creaked from the rusty nails that held it together and behold sitting on a blanket of royal purple velvet was a Devil Fruit.

"A Devil Fruit!" Joshua gasped as his eyes widened lighting up with passion and excitement. Looking up at the king Joshua took his winged helmet off and placed it by his chest, "Great thanks, Uncle."

Joshua removed the fruit from the chest with his free hand and held it up before him, "What is it called?"

Thrymr looked upon the fruit, something he had gained from his own adventures. "It is the Deka Deka no Mi. It will render you a Gigantification Human. I had thought it to fulfill my needs, but alas... the results were not as intended. However, it will grant you, in my eyes, honorary status amongst my people. No longer will you be just a human in my land, but an honored citizen. You will be able to stand tall."

Later That Day...Elbaf Docks

Later that day Thrymr had already prepared for Joshua's departure, not only granting him the power of the Deka Deka no Mi but also with his very own giant ship. The sun was starting its descent into the sea as the clash of bright blues soon turned into orange skies. The cinematic views from the shores of the giant island sent shivers down Joshua's spine.

The young lad stood at the docks, back faced toward the island and he turned toward the open seas, he'd always looked forward to this day. And now that it was here it felt oddly strange. He was nervous, sad, excited, and happy all at the same time, his emotions ran wild at the thought of freedom.

"Joshua, did you think you were going to leave without saying goodbye?" A female voice said from the distance. It was Josh's adopted parent who'd raised him.

" Grandmother Deana"

The large giant woman was dressed in a traditional Elbaf garb dress and had two long braids that hung to her waist and big fuzzy boots. The large woman began to walk toward Joshua. "Do you know how rude that is? I can't believe you would up and leave like that, your father would be ashamed of you!"

Joshua had turned his head and scratched the back of his head in nervousness, "Sorry Granny, I was only going to be gone for a few months. I am coming right ba-"

Before he could finish Deana picked her adopted son up with both hands and hugged him close to her heart crushing him between her large breasts. "OH NO MY POOR BABY BOY IS ALL GROWN UP!" She shouted tears falling from her eyes. "Please don't leave us, do you have to leave?"

Joshua had managed to release himself from his grandmother's grasp and jumped back down onto the dock, "Please Granny you know that I've been waiting for this day my entire life."

For a brief moment, Josh's voice changed to a softer more serious tone. "Uncle Thrymr had finally given me the ok to go to the outside world. 19 years of being cooped up in a place where you are different from everyone else takes a toll on you for a while."

Deana could hear the subtle pain in his voice, "I know, it just makes me sad that's all. Don't get me wrong I'm happy you are doing what you wish to, but it pains me to see you go." Her head hung down as she felt bad for pressuring the child.

But soon she was embraced by Joshua's arms as he hugged her legs, "It's ok granny, I know you mean well...Don't worry I'll be back before ya know it." The two shared a lovely moment before being interrupted by the ringing of a bell, signaling Joshua's ship was ready for departure.

"Well, that's my queue," Joshua said squeezing his grandmother for the last time.

"Wait I almost forgot," Deana replied stopping Joshua before he left. From the inside of her dress she pulled out a black coat, "Here take this with you to keep you warm, I made it myself." Deana was a tailor in her free time. Josh's eyes widened open as a big smile painted across his face.

"A pirate coat!" Joshua quickly grabbed the coat from his grandmother and admired it.

"It makes sense that a pirate should have his signature coat, after all, I heard the sea winds get quite cold some nights. I made it with the finest wool around. I hope you like it," Deana smiled.

"Like it...I love IT! Thanks, Granny!" Joshua gave one last hug to his grandmother and threw his coat around his shoulders.

It wouldn't be long before Joshua was finally on sea heading out into the unknown world, but manning a ship would be hard on his own. If he were to become a pirate and complete the mission his uncle had given he would have to find a crew.

That was his next stop.

Recruit Me[]

Hachinosu Rocky Port , May 10th, 1620

On the shores of Hachinosu, the Elbaf ship carried Joshua toward the island. He'd been at sea for a total of 5 days, and sailing was something he wasn't used to. Before he left the giants gave him a quick crash course on how to man the ship, but like most noobies of the sea Joshua struggled. The past 5 days were like hell and quickly he started to realize how hard the seas truly were, and he hadn't even started his adventure.

However, he remained in high spirits during his journey, keeping active at attending to the ship and getting a feel of sea life. The first couple of days were rough for him adjusting to his sea legs and sickness. But it wouldn't take long for him to become used to it, he did find sailing peaceful at times when the winds were calm and the water wasn't choppy. He understood how some people spend years on the seas.

One thing he did miss however was interaction with other people, during his journey, he would come across ships here and there, and although they were just passing by, it was nice to see others out and about doing their respective things in the world. Most of the ships consisted of small-time pirates and sailors, sometimes he would hear crews singing sea shanties while working on the ships which made him fantasize about having a crew of his own.

He needed a crew of his own, after sailing alone for a few days he knew eventually he would get sick and tired of doing everything all by himself. That was the main reason he headed toward Hachinosu in the first place, Deana had told him that the island was a pirate paradise, and the island held an event from time to time for rookie pirates to ban together and recruit others with like-minded goals.

As Joshua approached the docks his large giant ship easily surpassed many of the smaller ships in the area, I guess that was the perks of living with giants. Joshua sat on the front mast as the pirates who worked the docks helped guide his ship to be parked. Many eyes and heads turned as the small pirate revealed himself as the sole pirate of the ship.

"Is that a human? How did he get a ship like that," a pirate said who stood idle on the docks. Joshua could do nothing but smile, he'd almost forgotten that others didn't know about him. Finally, the ship docked and Josh leaped from the ledge onto the island.

The feeling was amazing, touching another place other than Elbaf brought an extreme amount of joy to Joshua's heart so much so that he burst out in a scream and threw his hands high into the air, "YEEEESSSSS!" Many pirates and residents all looked at the young man alerted his arrival, it was weird from their perspective but it for Josh it was a triumphant moment. Gathering himself with composure he adjusted his winged helmet and looked around. The island was bustling with many people of all kinds, people he'd only read about in books and letters.

Humans, Minks, Fishmen, and even some giants surrounded him. Seeing people of all kinds sent him into a frenzy wanting to talk to every person he saw. But when he approached some people he would be met with the reality of the place he was at, pirates weren't always nice people. Nor did they care about some random kid riding a giant's ship. It made most of the already-established pirates pissed at the fact he had such a grand ship.

From the perspective of the pirates, the boy had come across an Elbaf ship, which was owned by a Yonko of the seas. Many of the pirates around thought about possibly stealing the ship for themselves after all an asset like that probably went for millions on the black market.

A fat bearded pirate had emerged dressed in a brown trench coat. His belly hung over his trousers and his red sash showed his exposed torso. A truly horrifying sight.

"Oi you boy," the swashbuckling pirate proclaimed, "That's a decent lookin ship yer got there." When the pirate spoke his breath stunk of liquor. Josh turned his head and raised a brow, he looked around to see who that man could've been talking to and then pointed at himself. "Who me?"

"Yes you, were did some punk kid get his hands on a ship like that? That's a giant ship for fucksakes arg hahaha."

Joshua was confused and weirded out by the sudden question, "Ugh, it was a gift from my uncle."

"A gift from yer uncle," the pirate said as the crew around him began to laugh at him in unison. "Who is yer uncle, the king of Elbaf arghahah?" the pirate said in a mocking tone. Little did the pirate know...

"Well yes actually...adopted uncle but my uncle nevertheless," Joshua replied.

Mid drink the pirate captain almost choked on his own beer spitting it out in shock, "WHAT?! Put that on Blackbeard's grave yer punk."

Joshua placed his right hand on his heart and raised his left hand up in the air, "I swear it on Blackbeard's grave."

The pirate captain's jaw dropped but like most pirates an opportunity came to mind. Getting ahold of a Yonko's family member sure would reap some what of a reward, maybe even the title of warlord if given the right circumstances. "Well well well, ain't it me lucky day." Snapping his fingers his crewmates all got up and drew their weapons aiming them at Joshua.

The young lad took a few steps back not realizing what he'd just caused.

"We'll be takin that ship from yer punk," the pirate said.

Just as the fat pirate clicked his flintlock another intervened, "Hey fatso! Why don't you pick on someone your own size. I bet that's hard to find around here huh?"

Joshua shifted his gaze towards a man who was walking toward the group, he wore a brown cape with no shirt revealing his muscular body. He wore a pair of baggy pants and old boots. His skin was very tan and brown with blonde hair.

The group of pirates turned toward him and some started to lower their weapons, "Oh god not this guy."

"If you know what's good for you, you'd fuck right off." The pirate said.

"Damn you Quaker, yer always ruining the fun."

"Damn you Fat Ricky! You are always picking fights with the noobies you douchebag!"

Ricky gritted his teeth and spit on the ground next to him, he turned his head to face Joshua, "Yer lucky fucking punk. Come on boys let's get out of here."

The pirate gang started to get up and leave the port giving Quaker a dirty look of disgust, "Watch yerself Quacker," Ricky uttered.

Quaker did nothing but roll his eyes without a care in the world. He soon turned his attention onto Joshua who was standing in shock and confusion.

"What's your name kid?"

"Josh...ugh and yours?"

"The name is Quaker, soon to be the strongest in all the seas. Or that's the goal anyway haha!" Quaker had a very dominating presence about him, he was confident, and that made Josh feel at ease.

"You wouldn't happen to know of that rookie event happening here would yah?

Quaker seemingly just smiled, "That makes more sense, ya common kid. I'll show you around."

Elsewhere on the island...

Today a special pirating event was being taken place all thanks to Baji. They dubbed it the Pirate Partner Program, this event was hosted for up-and-coming rookie pirates that wished to ally and ban together to take to the seas. It was meant to be a fun interactive experience for the newer generation in hopes of sparking a brand new wave. The events were only hosted a few times a year making them super rare, those who wished to participate only had a certain window of time before their chances of finding crewmates would vanish.

All the rookie pirates would find themselves within a large sea of different crews and faces. Many pirate captains were looking for crewmembers with many solo pirates themselves looking for crews to join, but soon enough the pirates would find themselves within a large warehouse. The building was tall and wide and the inside was several concession stands of workers who made pirate flags, those who sold weapons, and those who helped the rookies recruit other rookies.

A very busy time.

"Damn, this place sure is booming huh? Reminds me of a Friday night back home at the bars, jehehe" Josh said holding his belly.

"Yeah this place sure gets hectic nowadays, Hachinosu economy has started to boom since Baji took over, this was probably the best thing for the island," Quaker replied.

A deep grumbling of Josh's stomach alerted Quaker's ears, "What you hungry kid?"

Josh rubbed his stomach again sounding off another grumble, "You can hear that too, man I'm starving. I wonder if there is food around here?" Quaker simply patted Josh on the shoulder and pointed toward a stand across from them, the sign read "Cooks Castle"

Josh's mouth began to water and drulle, "Ya don't gotta tell me twice." The two pirates headed toward the stand.

As they approached there was a long lineup waiting to order, and behind the stand was a fearsome like of pirate Cooks showcasing their skills in hopes of being selected.

Somewhere else on that same island

As Tento's boat scraped against the sandy shore, he let out a long sigh of relief. He'd finally made it to the island. His legs wobbled a bit as he stepped off the boat, and before he could even take in the scenery, his stomach churned violently. He staggered over to the nearest barrel and emptied his guts into it.

"Man, sailing these seas is crazy hard without a crew," he muttered to himself, his voice shaky between heaves. He paused for a moment, gripping the edge of the barrel, before another wave of nausea overtook him.

After what felt like an eternity, the queasiness subsided. Tento wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and took a deep breath. "Come on, Tento, get it together," he said aloud, trying to shake off the remnants of seasickness. He straightened up, brushed the sweat from his forehead, and took in his surroundings.

The island was bustling with activity. Pirates of all kinds were milling about, shouting greetings to old friends and haggling over various treasures. The salty air was filled with the scent of the sea, mingled with the aroma of roasted meats from nearby food stalls. Colorful banners flapped in the breeze, each bearing the symbol of different pirate crews.

Tento steeled himself and began to walk towards the heart of the pirate convention. Despite the rough start, he couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. This was his chance to prove himself, to make connections, and maybe, just maybe, find a crew of his own.

Meanwhile back at the Cooks Castle stand...

"I told you I was hungry! Hmph!!!!" A lovely voice pierced through the crowd, a beautiful young lady with long straight golden hair, wearing black leather pirate outfit walked near the Cooks Castle.

"And I told you a hundred times now that we will be getting something to eat! Stop being a brat!!" Accompanying her was a brown haired young man, with the look of an infamous pirate. "I even smell the food already... Jeez, how annoying..." With his hands in his pockets, he walked closer to the Cooks Castle, where the smell was amazing, making both of them even hungrier.

Other pirates began to talk among themselves, they recognized him from his bounty poster, it was none other than the infamous Decken, the captain of The Dutchmen. Even though is considered a rookie, he managed to gather a bounty of one hundred million berries in only a few months since he formed his crew and sat sail.

"There are so many pirates here as well." The lovely lady said to Hendrik. "But there are so many people standing in line, I can't wait too long..."

Hendrik sighed as he looked at everyone there, then back at his friend, not knowing what she's demanding of him. "What do you want me to do? Kill them all and cause a scene? Or should I steal the food for you?" Placing his hand on his face, Hendrik was at his limits. "I knew it was a mistake bringing you with me, Gina..."

Josh and Quaker's mouths watered at the sight of the amazing food being brought to life, cheese corn dogs, burgers, pasta, you name it. A bunch of pirate chefs were cooking with skill and quick fashion after all, they were on the clock. Many more gathered around, it seemed that everyone was hungry at this time.

There was a small girl working the front taking orders, she was fast and loud. For such a little girl one would think this job would be difficult. Eventually is was time to order.

"Hello welcome to Cook's Castle what do you need today," The girl said.

Josh, and Quaker stared up at the menu above them,

"So many options, so many flavors..." they said in unison.

His eyes gleamed with joy and his belly grumbled loudly once again. The duo both looked at each other and shouted, "MEAT!"

"Got it," she said, "TWO ORDERS OF THE MEAT SPECIAL!" Her voice quickly changed to a strong deep masculine voice, that freaked Quaker out.

"What the fuck did I just witness, that's a kid right?"

"Alrighty boys move to the left your order will be coming shortly...NEXT!" HER voice was normal squeaky yet again.

As Josh and Quaker moved down the line a see-through glass showed the cooks, and in front of them displayed several cooks throwing down in kitchen.

"Hello, mister. What would you like from the Cook's Castle today?" a little girl asked, her eyes wide and curious as Tento stood in front of the counter, scanning the extensive menu filled with various delectable items.

Tento scratched his head, taking in the options. His stomach growled loudly, making him realize just how hungry he was after his long journey. He looked down at the girl, who was patiently waiting with her notepad in hand.

"Alright, can I get 20 corn dogs, 30 hamburgers, 15 plates of spaghetti, a side of 45 fries, and 78 tater tots?" He paused for a moment, thinking. "And I want to wash that down with a couple of gallons of water," he added, flashing a wide smile at her.

The little girl blinked, her pencil scribbling furiously to keep up with his order. "Is that all, sir?" she asked, her voice filled with a mix of awe and disbelief at the sheer volume of food he had requested.

"Yes, that'll be all," Tento replied, chuckling. He watched as she finished writing and nodded. With that, he hurried down the line to wait for his order, his mouth already watering in anticipation.

"Jeez, you guys sure eat a lot..." Decken's turn came and so he moved to the front, ready to order along with Gina. "I will have three of your special, and three bottle of sake."

Popping from behind Decken, Gina ordered her food as well. "I will be having two hamburgers and one bottle of sake too! Thank you!"

Decken looked confused at Gina, all of a sudden, she was behaving well compared to her bitchy usual self. "Food does indeed change you, huh?" Looking around him as the little girl wrote his order with a smile on her face, Decken scanned the area, seeing multiple familiar faces. His crew was smart enough to keep a record of every known wanted pirate, and many of the pirates here were just as infamous as Decken himself, with bounties that were around the hundred millions, with some even higher than that. "Gina, let's grab a seat at that table there."

"Yeah, I can't wait to have some of this delicious food!" Clapping in excitement as she followed Decken to the table.

"Eat a lot? That's an understatement," Tento said with a chuckle as he made his way to his table, just imagining his food on the way. "It takes a lot of energy to set yourself on fire," he added, flashing a playful grin. As he sat down, he noticed Decken and Gina seated at the next table, Tento being a living yap show couldn't resist striking up a chat. "So, what brings you folks here?" he asked, leaning over slightly to catch their attention.

"Fate." Decken spoke mysteriously, trying to look cool for a moment, before a grin slipped through his expression. "Fua ha ha ha ha..." Turning around to face Tento to properly address him. "We're here for the same reason everyone else is, we were curious as to this event so we came to check things out." Resting his hand on the back of his chair, with his legs crossed, Decken asked Tento. "What about you guys? You here for the food?"

"To amass a crew so I can sail out into the world and collect the horns of every powerhouse on the planet," Tento said. He paused for a moment, then broke into a grin. "But honestly, I'm mostly here for the food," he admitted, his mind momentarily drifting to the feast that would eventually be spread out before him.

"Which brings me to you, mystery man." He looked directly at Decken, his expression serious. "Would you like to join my crew?"

"How rude!" Gina's eyes widened as a nerve popped on her forehead. "You don't know who you're speaking to?" Standing up, she rested her foot on top of the table as she pointed at Tento. "This is captain Hendrik V. Decken! He's worth a hundred million berries!"

Scratching the back of his head, Decken didn't seem to be bothered by Gina's behavior, after all, he knew it was due to her hunger. "Don't mind her, she's just hungry..."

Gina sat down, crossing her arms, ignoring both guys as she wait for the food. "Whatever!"

"So that's your plan? To randomly invite people into your crew?" Decken questioned, he knew that this was not the best way to recruit people, especially pirates. How would one trust his fellow mates when they have just met, especially the type that would steal, kill, ruin towns, all for the sake of their dreams.

"Well, yeah, that was kinda my plan," Tento admitted, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly as he realized how dangerous and risky his recruitment style could be. “So is that a no?” Tento continued as he raised his eyebrow.

Decken's eyes, sharp as ever, stared into Tento's. His expression shifted to that of a much serious and dark one, as his hand moved towards the hilt of his sword, which rested next to his seat. "Don't push it..." Decken sounded annoyed, he wasn't one to tolerate others for long. "I've been trying to stay polite, since both of us are on someone's territory. But don't think for a moment that I won't turn this whole island upside down, even if it killed the lot of you!"

"Jeez... This doesn't suit you at all, Captain..." Gina sighed as she placed her head on the table, with only her arms in between, to rest while she waits for the food. "I'm so hungry...."

"Whoa there, buddy. I understand I'm just a stranger to you, but if you think you can threaten me without consequences, you're sadly mistaken," Tento said, locking eyes with Decken. His voice was calm, but there was an edge to it that made his words hang heavy in the air.

"Besides," Tento continued, his lips curling into a confident smile, "you sound scared to me. If you really want to attack me, territory or not, then go ahead. Do it." He stood his ground, exuding a quiet confidence, every muscle in his body subtly tensing as he prepared for the possibility of an attack.

"Oh really?" Raising his hand, Decken was ready to demolish the entire place, as shadows covered the rays of sun that pierced through the windows. Every pirate ship that was at the dock was now floating above the island, ready to go down like missiles. This would have easily been the end of this place, and it would have caused enough damage to force certain individuals to get involved.

"Excuse me! Here's your food!" The lovely waitress said as she placed the food in front of Gina and Decken, causing Decken to instantly sit down, rubbing his hands as he prepared to eat.

"Don't worry about it, Tento. Let's talk later!" With a wide smile on his face, Decken waved his hand, sending all the ships to sink into the ocean as if they meant nothing. This was bound to piss off many of the pirates, traders, marines, and everyone who had their ship at the docks of the island, as they now don't have a ship at all. This is why Tento's statement was simply untrue about Decken, he wasn't someone to feel fear from anyone, especially with how powerful he thought he was.

Gina dived into the food right away. "Forget about Tento, the food is delicious!"

"I know right? This is the best!" Decken dived into the food as well, disregarding Tento.

"Yeah, we'll definitely talk later," Tento said, settling back into his seat and picking up his fork. He began to eat his food with deliberate calm, his eyes never leaving Decken. "That was crazy though. Making ever ship float is super cool," he added as he decided to let the situation simmer down for now. He took a deep breath, savoring the food in front of him, but his mind was still sharp and alert. He knew this wasn't the end of their confrontation, merely a pause. Tento also took note of Decken’s ability, he seemingly made the entire world into his weapon, the thought of having hordes of ships thrown at him did not sit well with Tento.

Josh and Quaker were busy stuffing their faces when the sudden commotion began to erupt. It started out as friendly banter but quickly changed to a more hostile situation.

"Would you guys keep it down over there, we are eating," Quaker said.

"Yeah it's kinda rude to talk with a mouth full, gee I thought the giants had bad manners." Josh chimed in.

Both pirates faced toward Decken and Tento, speaking with a mouth full of food.

New Hire[]

Amsterdam Kingdom, May 10th, 1620

Standing at the front gates of Amsterdam Kingdom was Vice Admiral Hector Hobbs awaiting the arrival of its newest resident. The admiral was always in attendance for new marines that were coming to the island no matter the rank. He felt it was his duty to make all marines feel welcomed and at home during their stay, as he once felt stepping foot onto the island.

The front gates were always a busy place, with it being the main checkpoint entrance to the kingdom. Every ship, boat, and sailor was documented. After the World Government had taken over the island they were extremely cautious about who came and went from its borders, and after Hobbs took over as the lead commander the security only had gotten more strict.

Hobbs was a man of security and safety and he had a strong distaste for criminals, mostly pirates. As long as Hobbs was alive and kicking no criminal scum would enter the island.

Along the docks a small marine ship had made its way to the island. It anchored itself on the dock to allow its passengers to disembark. Most importantly on the ship was the Marine, Kirimoto Aphrodite. She had been requested to stay stationed at the base for a short period of time, and she had no right to refuse.

She walked to the front gate and offered her hand to Vice Admiral Hobbs. Her demeanor was pleasant and amicable, not at all like what her epithet denoted. Her mannerism showed that she was here strictly for business, and nothing more.

"Mrs. Kirimoto what a pleasure. My name is Hector Hobbs, the leading admiral, and chief. The Amsterdam Kingdom welcomes you," he said embracing the marine for a handshake.

"I've heard a lot about you, hopefully, your time here can expand your growth," Hobbs said with a smile. His voice was deep and soothing to the soul, but also he presented himself with a stoic and determined face. The vice admiral turned to the other several marines standing by as they recived their newest guest.

"Men! Let's show Aphrodite a warm Amsterdam Welcome!"

"Sir Yes Sir!" The marine soldiers said lining up in single-file line on both sides of them. They saluted strong and proud.

”Thank you. I appreciate the warm welcome. But you may stand down. I don’t require such flamboyant showing for simply my arrival.” Aphrodite waved off the marines as she finished speaking. Then she turned to the vice admiral himself. “It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance Vice Admiral Hobbs. If I may have the liberty of asking, why am I here today?”

Hobbs smiled at Aphrodite, she was stoic, just like him. In a sense, he saw a little of himself in her, "I was told you have been stationed here to learn about the other end of marine life. The business." A vein upon Hobbs's head bulged outward, just thinking of work stressed him quite a bit but nevertheless, "Please come with me I will show you around."

Hobbs and his men began to escort the newest arrival past the dock and enter the first part of Amsterdam. They met another boat vessel that floated on a river street. Stepping into the boat, Hobbs took a seat and instructed Aphrodite to join him. The boat was being driven by a seaman recruit named Samuel.

"A pleasure meeting you Mr. Vice Admiral Hobbs sir," the rookie marine stated saluting both high ranking Marines. The boy was frail and skinny, by the looks of it he'd joined against his own will.

"At ease solider," Hobbs said pulling a cigar from his pouch and lighting one. He brought an extra and offered it to Aphrodite.

Aphrodite politely declined the mans offer. She didn't believe smoking was good for ones health, and good health was incredibly important for a fighter to have. What she didn't like to hear was work. Despite her high role, she absolutely despised paperwork. In fact, throughout her entire career she had only filed 3 sheets of paperwork herself. "If you insist, I will follow you. However, I will not be filing any additional paperwork just so we are on the same page."

She turned to look at the boy, Samuel. Frail-bodied men were not what the Marines needed, and she was vocal about her opinion. With a heavy tone of venom underlying her tone, she spoke to him. "You should leave the corp. Kids like you only end up getting hurt, and liability is a paperwork nightmare. I hear some good companies are hiring these days though."

Hobbs shook his head in disappointment, "That is no way to talk a new recruit Marine," he said in a stern tone. Hobbs was a man who believed anyone could achieve success within the Marines if hard work and dedication were applied. For a rear admiral to demean another showed a lot about her character and Hobbs quickly understood that.

"For that comment, you earned yourself a ticket to filing all of our ship records the moment we get to the main building. Samuel here is sure a weak, scrawny, frail boy. But soon enough he will be a man ain't that right Sam."

Samuel didn't know what to think. They both insulted him at the same time but with different intentions. The recruit could do nothing but lower his head and sigh, "Yes sir."

"Good now steer us straight and take us to Liberty Dock, I wish to show our guest where the magic happens," Hobbs said puffing his cigar. Samuel struggled to push the paddle to start the boat but soon enough the small dinghy would make its way down the stream.

After sailing down the river streets for a solid 24 minutes of time thanks to Hobbs stopwatch he brought with him, timing Samuel's speed. They reached a place known by all as Liberty Dock. Liberty Dock was a shipwright port that was the busiest part of the Kingdom as many shipwrights of all calibers worked on the marine vessels.

"Here we are, ain't she beautiful?" Hobbs said standing up from the boat and shaking it.

"Woah! Be careful sir you'll tip us!" Samuel cried out trying to quickly balance the boat.

“What is your intention with shaking that boat?” Aphrodite curtly asked Hobbs. She was still a tad miffed at the interaction earlier. If she didn’t have such and adverse disposition towards paperwork she would’ve snapped back at Hobbs.

“So. We’re here. What now?” She inquired at the pair. She would prefer to just get this over with, and she had little patience for rookie mariners.

"You are going to get to meet the lead Shipwright in Amsterdam. He is a skilled man and works very hard night and day. After all its better you get know him, who knows I've been told he can build anything." Hobbs said stepping out the boat. "Sam, you stay here and guard this boat with your life. Understand!"

Saluting his superior Samuel said, "Aye Vice Admiral Hobbs Sir!"

Hobbs smiled and showed a great attitude towards Samuel, "That's the spirit."

The port was massive with ships on the left and right being built before their very eyes. It was loud, dusty, and smelled a bit from the sweat of the workers. Just like any construction site, it was always a strange look. Many of the workers drank on the job, smoked, and even did some illegal stimulant drugs to keep them awake and active. Their lifestyle could be seen as a hindrance to work but it's quite the opposite.

As long as the World Government has known the builders in the kingdom, they've always conducted business like this. Statistically, their production rates are much higher when the workers are given free rein to work how they like. The two admirals would reach a small trailer on the last dock, Hobbs raised his hand at the door and knocked several times.

Thud Thud Thud

"Builder? You in there?"

A rummaging from behind the thin door, and the handle would twist downward and swing open. It was opened by a tan-skinned man with long blonde hair. He had a rugged look, he wore some typical mechanic clothing, and had very dirty hands stained from the dust and metals.

"Oh, it's you." He said coldly almost looking disappointed, he then shifted his attention toward Aphrodite, his eyes squinted as he stared her down. "What's the deal with the her? What do you want lady?"

Aphrodite narrowed her eyes in return as she looked a the man. It was very clear she did not want to be here. “Well, I’m supposed to be stationed on this island. Admiral Hobbs here thought it was wise for me to meet you. If he was correct is to be discovered.” She said as she briefly looked back at Hobbs before turning back to the other man. She stuck out a hand to introduce herself. “My name is Aphrodite. It’s nice to meet you.”

"The names Page," he scowled not shaking the newest marines hand, "You are not getting a ship or anything from me. I don't like your attitude. It's a real shame a beauty always turns out to be a bitch nowadays." Page turned his attention toward, "This is the new guy, I thought you were supposed to defend us, not get us killed. GAGAGAGAH!"

Page's rude comments were something Hobbs was no stranger to, Page was apart of the royal Amsterdam Family, through marriage. Making him one of the most powerful people in the kingdom.

Despite her face contorting into anger, Aphrodite tried her best to keep calm and not lash out at the man. She didn’t usually harbor any ill intent towards citizens, but she sorely wanted to make an exception for Page. So she settled to try and talk calmly. “I didn’t come to ask for a ship, sir. I am just trying to familiarize myself with the locals, but at the rate this is going I may find myself leaving soon enough.” She said as she shot Hobbs another sharp glance.

Hobbs got hot from the snarling glance from the poisonous viper. He took a finger and placed it around his shirt collar flapping a cool funnel of air into his shirt.

”Well that will be all, no-“

WWHHHAAMMM

Page had already smashed the door right in the vice admirals face without a second thought. It was of ill intent to, Pages laugh could be heard on the other side of the door.

Hobbs took a gulp and pivoted in 180 degree angle, “Well I think that went very well.”

Aphrodite placed her hands behind her back and began walking away, her face calm and collected. But her feelings were anything but. Her skin was hot with anger as she walked away, but her appearance refused to show that. The only give-away to her anger at the shipwright was the sweat that was turning into steam from the heat of her body. “I think it went very well as well. Let’s go to the next stop.”

Somewhere in the New World, May 10th 1620

Sitting on a bench in the middle of a park, many regular civilians carried on with the regularly scheduled programming. Many elderly people were out on their daily morning walks, some children played with kites that flew high in the bright blue sky, and the men played sports having a competitive battle of shirts and skins.

The man sitting on the bench was named Fredrick, an Underworld broker and dealer within the New World. A meeting spot was set up to sell some drugs to a client of his. A small-time hobby that Fredrick did on the side to fuel his ambitions. Fredrick had chosen such an exposed area for two reasons.

The first reason is that when people conduct themselves in the open they tend to behave accordingly, afraid to lash out or do anything rash around the witnesses who would testify against any criminal activity.

The second reason was a philosophical one, working in the underworld meant hiding intentions and moves. What better way to do so than in plain sight?

Fredrick pulled out a cigar from his jacket pocket and adjusted his glasses awaiting his client's arrival. With a match he lit the cigar and took a few deep puffs, swishing around the smoke in his mouth and tasting the nice whisky flavor before blowing out the smoke into a huge cloud. "Ah, nothing like a good smoke to start the day," he said softly.

As soon as Frederick's cigarette had found its way to his lips, squelching could be heard. Each step that followed became louder and louder to the point where it drowned the positivity that surrounded Frederick.

"Ya, I'd agree usually, however..." a deep, sultry voice followed, and were Frederick to look towards the direction it came from, he'd see the perpetrator of the loud stepping, of that sonorous voice. A wolf mink stood before him, fully dressed in a suit. His grey hairs were perfectly trimmed, his fur well-kept and shiny. It was almost uncharacteristic of one who came from Zou.

The mink's head turned from side to side, the civilians that dared look at Frederick light up his cigarette, quickly looked away as the mink's gaze fell upon them. "There's a time n' a place for everything. I take it you don't intend to keep smoking eh? I'm already here."

Fredrick stood up from his seat, "How rude of me, I didn't notice you coming. I got lost in the scenery." Taking one last good puff, he flicked the cigar onto the floor and stepped on it, crushing the rolled bud. Fredrick extended his right had to great the mink, "It's a pleasure to finally meet, I think over-the-phone conversations get boring after a while. But I find myself always taking them," He chuckled.

Fredrick seemed like your average guy, one could assume he was a father of few kids with a wife at home waiting for him.

The mink looked at Frederick's hand. His eyes scanned his figure. His joyful disposition, his charisma it reminded him of his own boss. It was exactly why he was wary. "Pleasure to meet you, I'm the Maurier you spoke to on the snail." Maurier's hands returned to his pockets, he took another look around their vicinity. "Interesting location. Do most of your exchanges occur here?"

"No no, this place was completely random. I was walking the city one day and came across it, I thought it was a perfect location to have a chat." Another smile and his glasses falling down the bridge of his nose. "Come let's walk," he said. Beside Fredrick was a brown leather duffle bag, with fine prints and patterns all over. Something classy to showcase wealth, but expensive nonetheless.

Fredrick picked up the bag with his left hand and started to walk down the path with Maurier. The path stretched long around the park making a large oval. Many passed by as they walked, Fredrick giving the occasional hi's and hello's. As they walked a separate path started to open up which led into a small forest.

It was a hiking path, somewhere a little more quiet to talk business. The forest trees almost changed the atmosphere of the summer day park to a cool dim fall afternoon. The floor was covered in red, orange and brown leaves of all kinds. The light still seemed to make its appearance every now and then shooting of thin rays of sunshine through the empty branches.

"So, Maurier, you are here for the drugs correct?"

While quiet, Maurier remained attentive to their surroundings. The comfortability civilians displayed around Frederick, it hinted to familiarity. Once the scenery had changed and Maurier could detect nothing but the sound of leaves hitting the ground, that was when he responded.

"I'm here because tha' boss is interested in what you have to offer," Maurier spoke up. "Mind showing me the product?"

"Ah yes, I've almost forgotten, my proposal," Fredrick said slapping his forehead in forgetfulness. Nearby was a large chopped-down tree stump that Fredrick placed his duffle bag on, unzipping it he put his hand into the bag pulling out the product. From his bag and in black leather gloved hand was a small vile filled with a moving smoke like gas.

The vile was sealed with a special machine that measured the balance of the gas. The color of the substance was pink and purple, "Here it is, my bread and butter. I call it, Space Princess or SP for short. This narcotic is hallucinogenic and distorts the vision to see things that aren't there."

Maurier's eyes narrowed, "Space...Princess..." he said slowly, "What kind of things?"

"Eh, it's hard to say. A lot of people experience different things, some good things, some bad things. That's drugs for ya." Fredrick said, "There are stronger more dangerous gasses I have developed over these quick years. Would you like a hit?" Fredrick's question was always one asked to a client, it was edikit. It would be foolish for someone to buy such drugs and not test them.

“It’s unpredictable then?” Maurier’s eyes remained on the drug at hand as he kneeled down to the ground. Two of his clawed fingers reached for the vial’s cap, his other hand grabbing onto the bottle as he pulled the cap off of the vial.

His right arm moved to the vial’s contents, yet rather than bring it to his mouth, Maurier pulled back the cuff of his dress shirt, revealing a small, black Den-Den Mushi. It extended its tongue, consuming some of the liquid.

”Can it be ingested in more than one way? Pills n’ shit?” He asked as he awaited for the effects of the drug to kick in.

"In a sense, the gas can be condensed into a liquid. But the strongest doses are inhaled."

As Frederick spoke, the Den-Den Mushi's pupils enlarged, saliva escaped its lips as it begun to look to the side. Maurier observed, before pressing the cap against the vial.

"Looks like it works to me, now...let's talk logistics." Maurier stood up, an exasperated groan following. "We'll start with one batch'a these, how that sound?"

"Taking out another small case filled with a few more flasks Fredrick gave the case to the wolf. "Sounds good to me, one batch should give you about 3 weeks of product."

Closing up the bag Fredrick seemed to have something else on his mind, "Out of curiosity, you wouldn't happen to know anyone interested in investing in a start-up company?"

Maurier's brows cocked upwards, as he held the bag with his paws. "It depends. What kinda company are we talking about?"

"A company that can shape the world from the inside," a sudden tone changed in the atmosphere. It was like it had gone quiet not even the wind could eavesdrop on the conversation. "That's what I'm looking to do, there's too much power at hand to only be held by a few..." Fredrick then pulled out another cigar and pulled another match from his pockets, "...I call it BlackRock."

"Eh?" The wolf's mouth opened in shock before he tilted his head to the side. "Too much power to be held by a few? Gararara! Of course! That's how it's meant to be! Have you lost your mind, doc?" Maurier spoke. "What's your idea for this Black Rock? Give everybody equal shares or somethin'?"

"You laugh now, but when it's the biggest anomaly in the seas... I'll be laughing then." Fredrick took a deep puff of his cigar and continued with his ramble, "BlackRock is anything you need it to be, a business, crew, military, I have my dreams I can fulfill with it. Right now I've gathered a few investors that see the Bigger Picture... You know what controls the world, Maurier?"

"What controls the world? Well it depends on who you're asking." Maurier crossed his arms. "If you were to ask me, it's women. There ain't nothin men won't do for 'em, I tell ya. I'm guessing y'answer's different?"

Fredrick chuckled and pushed up his sliding glasses, "I guess you aren't wrong about that haha, I've seen the things men will do for women and love. Pitiful really, but the answer is money. Money runs the world Wolf, and who controls the money? The bankers, and what is better than rich women. With my connection in city of gold we wish to start something big. Creating a world bank."

"Gararara! That's what the boss'd say. No wonder he wanted this deal done. I'll keep an eye out for your company, doc. I respect the ambition, really. Speaking of money, doc. Aren't you forgetting something?" Maurier grinned.

"Yes pricing, is always an important thing these days. Usually for one vile costs upward these days of 12,000 beli per, but If you can get me a meeting with your boss. I can cut that down to 10,000 flat. How does that sound?" Taking another puff of his cigar.

Maurier's grin remained, though he shook his head in response. "Yer ambitious alright. I can't give ya a meetin' with the boss. That's up to him to decide. As for pricing, if these sell at 12,000, we can probably sell them for up to 18,000. How does fifty percent of the earnings sound to start? We'll also give you a reasonable sum up front to ease your mind. Make sure there's no funny business, yeah?"

"I prefer other means of exchange, how about a 30% split and all of your contacts," Fredrick replied.

"Hmmm..." Maurier scratched his chin. "That just won't do. What means of exchange do you speak of? I thought 'money ran the world', eh?"

"Money does, that's why you're here. But just like money, information is just as valuable. Now I don't want to push and shove, but getting contacts helps me, so let's just help each other. You guys win by taking more money out of the pot, and I win by making new friends." Sticking out his hand to shake, "So what do you say?"

Maurier stared at the man's hand, blinking several times. He sighed deeply to himself. "Maaaan, you sure are stubborn..." He shook his head repeatedly. "I ain't here for money, doc. That ain't our business, 'twas supposed to be yours, I thought. I can't give my contacts to a man I've just met, a man I've yet to do business with. What am I supposed to tell 'em, that yer a good partner? I can't say that for certain."

"If you prove your worth to us, I'll set up some networkin' calls, aye?" Maurier finished.

"Deal, just tell me what I should do..." Fredrick said grasping the wolf's hand.

"The boss wants a certain drug made, if you're able t'a make it, n' test it as well as work with us for a few months...well, I'll happily pass along some contacts." Maurier responded shaking the man's hand.

Fredrick smirked, taking his final puff before crushing it under his boot once more, "You got it." The men shook hands and went their separate ways both fulfilled with the deal at hand. Fredrick would prepare to get some cliental but first he had to meet someone.
